Re: Would NATO survive a Trump whitehouse?
I think we could see POTUS announcing a small withdrawal of some US forces stationed here in Europe, coupled with some other forces being moved out of Germany and east to Poland (Maybe give Poland that brigade they want). On top of that the US could commit less troops, ships and aircraft to NATO exe...

Re: Ocean Class Helicopter Carrier (LPH) (RN)
To be fair there was decent warning and imo the UK could of quickly deployed some extra assets out to British Territories in the firing line, albeit limited. But its the sluggish response after Irma hitting compared to the French and Dutch thats pretty poor, we seem to be a good 24+ hrs behind them....

Re: Mid-term review for the Strategic review?
I agree with almost everything you put above. The only thing i'd question is; why not just have 500-600 strong bn in Oman given Jordan's close proximity to Cyprus? As for what have got left, well again (of course) your spot on. Even a realisitic and sustainable plan such as the above stretches our f...

Re: Mid-term review for the Strategic review?
OK, if we cut this tail off the list, may be 3 on the rest of it. The next thing is to grade them - on-going but (militarily) minor - expected probability v low, but too major to handle (on our own) And! anything in-between. Here one can see how supporting alliances (NATO to begin with) are monies ...

Re: Mid-term review for the Strategic review?
(Sorry if this is abit ranty/pessimitic) Any mid-term review or 'refreshing' would be a waste of time in my opinion. The out come would be more cuts to make military "more capable" along with alot of fingers in ears so they can't here the real problems such as, lack of proper funding, man ...

My 'millennial' generation are actual morons. 99% are inexperienced and naive and will buy any sh*t the left sell them no matter how unrealisitc it is (Corbyns spending plan for e.g). Re: Brexit - The UK's EU Referendum & Withdrawal
Not sure how the UK caused the problem, people democratically voted to leave. If the EU wishes to punish and stick its fingers up at the UK for being democratic then it just shows the EU's true colours and that we made the right choice.

Think its about time we woke up and realised that projects like QE Carriers, T45, T26, Astutes, Dreadnoughts, Nukes, F-35s are just beyond our budget and instead focus on building a larger conventional military with advanced modern but cheaper off the shelf ships and aircraft, similarly to Germany, ...

Part of me hopes Trump calls NATO's bluff. The EU tried to manage the Balkans conflict without US help and failed miserably. The US simply has the vital assets NATO needs to properly function and without them will become ineffective. Scaring the rest of NATO into spending more maybe the only way it...
