Hi Cooper.......I simply support Indy 2 in Scotland. Bravery or cowardice is irrelevant on a discussion forum. (particularly when "Big Brother" is watching.)
I'm sure you have absolutely no opinions which others might disagree with.

Re: Irish Defence Forces
It appears that the Aer Chór will be selecting 4 Pilatus 12 to replace it's aging Cessna fleet. Also a replacement PC9 for the one lost.

Well if that was the policy in what sense would such a debate help voters in NI to decide who to vote for?

Re: river I/I.5 and II patrol vessels
plan C Sell them and use the money and Manpower for type 26/31 programs I like the Rivers but can't imagine who would buy the Batch2 series at the price the RN is paying for them. The Batch1 series should be much more reasonably priced (Bangladesh had a look apparently) I didn't realise that Clyde ...

Re: river I/I.5 and II patrol vessels
I'm fairly sure there was some sort of EU support for the NS when we were building EEZ patrol ships in Ireland but that didn't extend to the the armament on LE Eithne. Since then I don't know. The INS is involved in a variety of "science and business projects" which are grant aided by the ...

Re: river I/I.5 and II patrol vessels
The INS seem to like Appledore......If they showed some variation of their "Type 31" design they might be tempted to bite.
I don't know if EU regulations would apply regarding a military purchase ......they don't seem to affect buying APCs from Switzerland.

Re: river I/I.5 and II patrol vessels
Very surprised if they scrap them they have a lot of years in them yet. I like the Rivers myself. The INS have just announced they intend to replace their two P40s "Peacocks". (Perhaps they might go to join their sisters in the Philippines.) If the RN was interested, Ireland might be indu...

Re: River-class Offshore Patrol Vessels [News Only]
On 24 April 2017, in a written answer to a question raised by Sir Nicholas Soames, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Defence Harriet Baldwin stated Severn would be decommissioned in 2017, with Mersey and Clyde following in 2019[14]. As of April 2017, no date has been given Tyne's decommissioning. Ha...

Re: Scotland (Political Thread)
The ref will have to take place before Brexit is finalised.........a later date would be silly from a Holyrood perspective......May could prevent all this by negotiating a "special" deal for Scotland and NI.

Ireland has been a graveyard for many promising political careers Mark. Mr.Brokenshire has already shot his bolt he'll be eaten alive. (completely out of his depth)
You really think there will be another election? ( I doubt it myself.)

Unionists have lost their long-enduring and highly symbolic overall majority in Stormont. Brexit and a "hard border" made the difference in my opinion. Arlene will be shedding crocodile tears for some time.

Ta for the link...
We will know in March when May starts the process of Brexiting proper. I think Nicola is not posturing in the sense you mean....She is carefully "allowing" herself to be pushed where she wants to go.
Scotsman online poll is showing 55% in favour of Indy2 as I type.

A new cod war with Europe perhaps?
Is Scottish Marine sufficiently well equipped to look after the UKs North Sea and Atlantic resources? Seems like a good time to transfer the Batch1 Rivers to Holyrood.

I think that the Scottish govt. is waiting to be "forced" to have another referendum. In my opinion the intention is to have it BEFORE the Brexit negotiations are completed not afterwards......Possibly before Christmas.

Some good news for a change. Photographed this week, this is the first section of the keel of the as-yet unnamed P64, which will be the fourth BECKETT CLASS ship to join the NS fleet.

Listened to Mrs. May just now........"Trexbi Smena Trexbi" Frankly she seems scared to me......I doubt she will get "Article 50" through Westminster. (Supreme Court willing) We'll be fine and whatever the deal we get or don't get, it will be immeasurably better than being a subs...
