Re: General UK Defence Discussion
Absolutely spot on SW1 - retention and recruitment are the biggest challenges facing all 3 services right now not comrade Putin or chairman whatsisname. Would love to see more P8s, more frigates, more Challengers et al but pointless if they're all just parked in a shed.

Re: General UK Defence Discussion
Starmer has promised a rise to 2.5% "when resources allow" which is politico speech for "it will have to wait it's turn and is nowhere near top of our list." Also a defence review within 12 months of coming to power. Wonder who he'll get to do it - believe Red Ken is still availa...

If you can ignore the superficial presenter and the annoying bursts of crap music this is actually an interesting video about the new Striker 2 helmet Bae is developing for Typhoon:

What odds Labour will kick their long-awaited defence review down the road (again) until no one is shooting at us?

I don't see any defensive fire at all coming from that Russian ship - allegedly Caesar Kunikov - seems taken completely by surprise.

This seems like a good place to post this. An interesting video from the Aviation Deep Dive site about the FAA adoption of the Corsair carrier fighter:

Just been announced on BBC News that Turkey is to buy 40 new F16s and get upgrades to their existing fleet. Oh and the Turkish Parliament has voted to accept Sweden's application to join NATO.

Re: Indian Armed Forces
I'm afraid no one will convince me that it's a good idea not to have any missile defence system on our carriers. Of all the carrier operators it's just us and the Japanese who don't. And their "carriers" were an afterthought. And they have a shedload of destroyers and frigates. And tend to...

A re-shuffle. Just not much of one: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-66707569 Does anyone remember Emily Thornberry as Shadow Defence? Blink and you would have missed it. Saw an A-12 parked on the bow of USS Intrepid, Sea Air and Space Museum in the Hudson River NYC. It was back in the early noughties but I believe it's still there.
