Re: Type 26 Global Combat Ship [News Only]
After the announcement that the 4th River class will be named HMS Tamar, I doubt that they will name a T26 HMS Plymouth. It would of been nice to see another frigate named Plymouth especially with the history of the name and the maritime importance of the city.

The ship with Ocean was Porter. I know it's a terrible quality but this morning I managed to get a picture of USS Porter south of the Plymouth breakwater.

Is there a date for when the ships of the class will be named? Is this something that will come out of the national shipbuilding strategy?

A much clearer, well laid out and simplified look at the results of SDSR 2015 :- https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/sdsr-2015-factsheets According to that document, the 3 oldest Sandowns are being decommissioned "Mine-Countermeasures Vessels (MCMVs). By 2025, three of the oldest Sandow...

Re: Future 'Lighter' Frigate
Where do you think T31 will be based?
I believe it might be best if all of the 8 T26s are at Plymouth and the 5 T31s based at Portsmouth.
Plymouth has recently had the worst treatment out of the 3 naval bases- subs to the Clyde, Ocean going and the loss of the T22s

Re: UK's Future T26 Frigate.
Okay, so I presume that with only 8 T26, they will all be based in Portsmouth. But what does this mean for Devonport? They will really need to get every single one of the new GP frigates to keep the base viable. Now this information is old however I heard last year the Devonport PM (Oliver Colvile)...

Might be mistaken but I thought that treaty only banned anti personnel mines. I think that treaty went into effect 10 years before Shielder was mothballed. Not an expert on this so I might be wrong.

Hi all, im another one from Think Defence. Any news recently on the "mothballed" shielder mine laying system. I know the fleet was mothballed in 2009 however it is interesting to know if its still mothballed or if it has now been scrapped. I know in 2013 it was removed from the British arm...
