https://www.navylookout.com/taking-shape-forward-section-of-first-type-26-frigate-hms-glasgow-rolled-out-of-build-hall/ The section that has been rolled out is largely just steelwork although some of the lock-out machinery is in place. A bit surprised by this, I expected with the experience of the ...

Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]

Guys I have been on this forum since it started and on its preceding forum, I'm just thrilled by how the navy has advanced from what it was in 82 when I first touched and the amazingly powerful force it is now. I worked on aspects of a plane that has B in its title at a very early stage, a popular R...

Re: Project Crowsnest- status?

Here's a daft idea... Take 14 Wildcats from the Army, give them to the Navy (get them up to HM.2 but with dipping sonar modification). Freeing up some Merlin's... Give the Army 10 AW149's (less airframes, but more capable)... 20 more AW149's to the RAF (to replace Puma) until the Future Vertical Wh...

If there flat topped there empty if there mushroom they have a missile in, you could see that on seawolf as well different covers depending if there was something in there or not On video the CAMM missile breaks a flat top and not a mushroom so flat or mushroom there can still be a missile inside N...

Re: Type 23 Frigate (Duke Class) (RN) [News Only]

A small finding. HMS Argyll, in many cases in its 6-month deployment to middle east, do not use "mush room cover" on its 32 CAMM . The flat top of the canister itself is directly seen in many cases. (all images from HMS Argyll Twitter) @Donald-san I have noticed this to on other Type 23's...

If I had to take a stab, I'd say to allow a post flight inspection.
The doors are part of the aerodynamics of the landing the help duct the jet blast

[quote="RetroSicotte"]Hard-kill has shown to have improved dramatically as of late though. Look at the Arleigh Burkes in the Gulf.

Think you have missed the point, we wont buy all 138 because there is no money to buy them anymore plus the £-$ exchange rate has made individual aircraft much more expensive which ever model they are. 48 aircraft might well be the lot and there will only be B models. In the very unlikely event of t...
