Re: Astute Class Attack Submarine (SSN) (RN)
Triumph is expected to go next year, so we will then be back down to 5 (at most) because as has been pointed out above boats 1 and 2 must be approaching the need for major re-fits). This is a ridiculously low number of boats. A major increase in numbers is urgently required …… HMG, please get a grip...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
T83s have already been stated to be Destroyers that will be heavily biased towards AAW and ABM defence for the ‘carriers. In view of this, they are possibly going to be substantially larger than the T45s. This will be particularly so, if in addition to an adequate Missile Load-out, they are required...

Re: Astute Class Attack Submarine (SSN) (RN)
It may just be possible, that 1 or more additional PWR2 reactors have been built for further Vanguard SSBN refits which, IIRC may, due to progress on “Dreadnoughts” not now be needed. This may make them potentially available for 1 or more additional “Astutes”, (or Astute class SLEs).

It will be even better when we are seeing 2 x (full) squadrons of F-35B on 1 x QEC.
Or better still 2 squadrons on each!

Not likely,, but the possibility does exist for joint crewing of one or more Astute Class, over an extended period.

We want the largest number of them that we can, plus we have a need to “top up” Astute class numbers in the near term.

Exactly, there would be no gap, you really are catching on fast aren’t you!So you would have to fill that gap with building more ships.

Quite so, but it is not what is required, so The Treasury should think again and get it correct. The Treasury dictated the build rate not Bae.

Yes, and work will be continuing “in the existing facilities” on blocks for both Hulls 2 and 3 !!! Do you really think that they will have room for Hull 4 and 5 Blocks to be built let alone stored , whilst they are still attempting to build and assemble the same for hulls 2 and 3. They will need the...

Any Batch 2 T26 are highly unlikely to be laid down this year! With plans for these to be built in a major new facility which has yet to be built (possibly not yet even having received planning consent), I would think it more likely to be well into 2024 or even 2025 before hull 4 and/or hull 5 could...

Of course people in the UK DID clock that. The point is, that as a UK subject, HE should have considered that to be the first and foremost consideration. By not doing so, he has insulted all of his “countrymen”. If he demonstrably cannot be bothered about them, then he really should not expect to ge...
