Re: Future Littoral Strike Ships
Finally! An LPD based cruiser. Far better to start with a large voluminous hull than try and turn a frigate into something it was never intended to be.

Great pics. Reminds of back in the day when you'd get murky pics of some latest Soviet creation and have to identify it.

Re: The loss of HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse 10 December 1941
The shock was in part because the PoW in particular HAD the most modern and tested AA defences- not that they lacked them. My understanding is that tactics emplyed in the Med were tried- barrage fire, but failed to deter Japanese pilots who flew through it. Once PoW realised this the ship began turn...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Does the RN only have deck crew for twelve F35's and a squadron of Merlins? What happens when they "surge"? To we say no-can-do Minister? £4bn for twelve F35's would be ridiculous.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Why would the marines bring their own support crew? I thought the whole point of "interoperability" is that a US F35 can touch down on an RN carrier, get its windscreen wiped and top up without having to redeploy dozens of blokes from its own carrier.

Odd story, either the PLAN is facing budget cuts or they are entirely dissatisfied with their carrier. Or both.

Well, lets face it, "Global Combat ship" screams "cruiser" so T26's maybe called "frigates" but they are not (:

Interesting that the Canadian seems to have misplaced its magnetron death ray masts on the hanger roof. No idea what they are and if someone explained I probably wouldn't understand

Hi Brazil! Now do something really interesting with her- sponsoned out deck park and a ski jump! Always wanted to post "Hi Brazil": Brasil, also known as Hy-Brasil or several other variants,[2] is a phantom island said to lie in the Atlantic Ocean[3] west of Ireland. Irish myths described ...

Re: Fantasy T31 and Fantasy Fleet Builder [New]
Merging low end frigates with LPD/H's is long overdue. I know, we'll call them "cruisers"! The ability to fire a gun and carry a landing party has not gone away- and it a hot war can operate a flight of Merlins.
