Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
If that is the 2nd lot of the initial 48 and we have 22 right now (google) that is not a lot of new aircraft to come between now and when these start arriving in 2026

Finished might be a bit too far but under going testing at sea is a Good sign
I wonder if going forward Dauntless will be the test bed for all the upgrades coming to the type 45 platform or if it will be time to get some miles on her instead?

Re: The war in Ukraine
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-to-gift-multiple-launch-rocket-systems-to-ukraine Interesting to see how the Russians like being on the receiving end of an MLRS system. Re: Boeing E-7 Wedgetail (RAF)
It strange when you put it like that, 2 F-35s for 1 E-7. When you think how important AEW is to the modern command and control of air assets it doesn't seem like a big price to pay. As a nation that suffered too many casualties because of lack of AEW for our task force in the falklands you think it ...

Seems like it, lets be thankful we have at least some sort of AEW for the UK.
I wonder if we have enough for 2 carriers?

Forgive me for not being the most knowledgeable on the subject but don't you want your soldiers training with the full power ammo so in combat they know how to get the best use and control out of the round?

If recent events with Russia haven't helped move the FCAS along then the only thing that will ever do it is sheer stubbornness not to fall behind the Tempest program.

Re: RN anti-ship missiles
If the anti ship capability of Sea Ceptor is any good wouldn't that be better than SPEAR 3, Sea Venom or similar for any small targets? I am just thinking of 48 Sea Ceptor cells for anti air and smallish crafts (2 uses, one missile) and save the room for a large canister launched missile for the big...

I think its the way forward, a lot of weapons are going to be dual use. No longer will one missile be just for aircraft or anti ship, alot of going to be able to do both. (or try to do both)
Martlet is still going to be important for Wildcat's.

Re: Type 45 Destroyer (Daring Class) (RN) [News Only]
Good news hopefully this doesn't require another dry docking. (or at least get the work done at the same time as CAAM is added) which will include converting existing missiles to the ASTER 30 Block 1 standard, as well as updates to the SAMPSON multi-function radar (MFR) and Sea Viper command and con...
