Re: Boeing E-7 Wedgetail (RAF)
Boeing is in a mess it needs government contracts to keep cash flow going as it’s currently selling 737s at a 20% loss to cost. And impairment charges for 787 and 777x delivery suspension and delays are going thru the roof. It was a contract only ever going that direction. That said, I don't imagin...

I don't think it matters too much if most of the stuff here regarding deployments and operations are fantasy. It's harmless enough, i don't think anyone takes themselves seriously that the things here are realistic. Its nothing than harmless fantasy chit chat.

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
You anoraks get so het up about Sqn numbers or numbers of airframes per Sqn.... The real metric is how many spares have been bought. That drives everything! With only 3 operational squadrons, that means two could be allocated to the designated Strike Carrier, and then one squadron could be allocate...

Re: MEL Group
Having dealt with them in the past, they do what they say. They are a pretty good company to deal with.
They have quite a few MoD contracts already, hopefully they'll keep going for some time to come.
I believe they also export quite a bit as well.

I don't think the US are likely to ignore their own coasts.
We've got far better things to worry about. And more important things to spend our money on.

What would we patrol for that close to the US? Its their back yard, they don't need any help and we've got bigger problems.

Yes Eurofighter will cover them for some time a limited buy of say 25 F-35b to cover off the Harrier for the navy seems a good option to me this would be a bit like the UK typhoon and F-35b until the next gen fighter comes along They have a dozen harriers, its nearly pointless considering the expen...

I read a report stating cancelling 2 wedge tails cost the mod £18m in fines to boeing. I assume that's the loss of discount through EOS that ordering all 5 would have brought, rather than plans incompetence if the individual price would have been the same if we ordered 3 in the first place with an ...

There seems to be a new problem with non-UKDF members now having full access to all sections and all threads, where previously only the main equipment threads were accessible. This wasn't intentional so I've fixed it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Also fixed issues with the forum not kee...
