Griffon Marine (Formerly Griffon Hoverwork) have released their new website, complete with the reveal of their Commando Insertion Craft design, and it's fantastic.

Why do they also have CRC on there site, did they buy hollyhead marine?

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)

know im dreaming here but with the new B-21 having F-35 engines etc etc look at buying 6 for long range anti shiping nuc role etc etc give them to 617 sqn ( be perfect for falklands black buck style raids) ........ then got the f-35b's up to 4 sqn for the fleet air arm. Gives the airfore a new toy ...

I am, and intentionally (Apart from the second mast).
T83 will need lots of power generation!

That's what, 8 diesel generators? Surely it would be better to mix an MT30 or two in there somewhere!
6 40mms is also a, well, unique design choice, but justifiable in the current security environment ...

My AH160 concept:

Aren't you duplicating the funnels as well as the second mast?
I'm trying out Shipbucket for the first time at the moment, will have finished my kitbash AH170 by this evening hopefully.

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

I don't know, 20 more meters is a lot more generators, boat bay's and VLS.

It is also a lot of length/beam ratio not included in the original structural calculations, both in terms of hydrodynamic forces and strength of the ship.

I agree, but AH140 + 20m may just form the framework for ...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

This argument is getting boring, let's start a new one. I've been thinking about the throwaway comment in the Naval News article:
Babcock is studying an enlarged Type 31 derivative known as Arrowhead 160
Firstly, a 160m long 'stretch' of AH140 is a ridiculous idea, pointless.

I don't know, 20 ...

If anything "capable of being fired from the deck” makes me think that they are talking about some form of drone/ missile that can be launched by the "lightweight" EM catapult that they seem to be contemplating (or possibly under it's own power, though that seems less likely)
Possibly multiple ...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)

Weak endorsement in the SDR for GCAP. Left the door wide open for it to be cancelled and the UK either buying F-47 or joining FCAS as a very junior partner. I'm sure Starmer would love to use it's cancellation as a "bargaining chip".

I disagree.
GCAP was actually mentioned relatively a lot for ...

IMHO T-7 wouldn't be that bad if it will be a licenced build made in belfast by Spirit Aerosystems.
Boeing UK as design lead and Saab providing a large portion.
Give work to an unstable large division of the UK aerospace industry,
In an under-invested nation of the UK.

What really makes me wonder is the position of the 2 tarps in the middle. If we assume the space for the Mk 41 to be in the same position as in the IH, then the 2 tarps are smack in the middle of this area, so blocking and further space for a MK 41

Yes, that's why it's hard to have a mixed ...

What the heck is that??? Don't answer. I know you've made it up.

Missile trunk I call the empty space reserved for the installation of the 4 Mk41 cells which goes down 3 decks.
