Re: Type 32 General Purpose Frigate [News Only]
There was loads of complete off-topic stuff about gas prices (I think - only skimmed them long enough to think WTF has this got to do with T32) I only noticed when I came back to try and quote a summary of T26 programme development woes that I put hear to find it and it wasn't here. Just asking bec...

What unmanned kit would it operate? There is no current unmanned kit for ASW. Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
The Telegraph article linked to up thread for one, it uses the phase 'at least' a number of times. The article also talks about four T26 in the first batch when it is actually three and also talks about the original plan for 12 Type 26 when it was of course 13. So make of it what you will. I read i...

Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
Here is my takeaway: Only Batch 1 would meet the timeline. The last of which HMS Belfast is already delayed. Meanwhile in France they could probably get them out far quicker and cheaper for more with FDI, while also having a much better AAW fitting. The article all of this comes from talks about fou...

Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
Rome wasn't built in a day it takes time to rebuild capability, Cammells/A&P would love the work if it is at no risk to them, SDA virtually bankrupted them again. A bit of subbing is fine, but the risk goes up the bigger the blocks are. As for Fergusons I wouldn't touch that dumpster fire with ...

Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
History 101 So you can't tell me how so? The RN clearly wanted all 13, and there were rumours of a £11bn price tag, the Treasury said no. Yes but it was the navy who messed up the procurement as such that the price rose to that, out of the RN's budget, so if they did ask the treasury for more then ...

Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
I thought the problem was that they couldn't be built long enough in that location due to some historically valuable buildings behind. Apologies - I'm not explaining very well. I'm not suggesting extending the original sheds (red outline), but covering the area (yellow outline) currently used for o...

Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
Effectively Norway would be funding the 5x T26 that HMG refused to fund. Never thought of it that way. True! We've gone all around the houses to get back to where we should have been from day 1 with a modernised frigate factory pumping out 13 x T26s. Jeez we make life hard for ourselves Navy's fault.

Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
My random question of the day is, doesn’t a company in Norway make the composite masts for the type 26? Yep, but that is like saying we make the bolts on the wingtips for F15-EX. a.k.a it is quite minimal value and wouldn't matter at all. If Norway does participate then building ship blocks would b...

Re: RED SEA - Houthi attacks
Odd that you take an article that basically says that ESSM is a self-defence missile that is finding little use in the Red Sea, as it can't intercept missiles aimed at other ships (so the USN has to use SM2 for that purpose) and use that to criticise CAMM, which IS capable of intercepting crossing ...
