Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

Truss didn't crash the economy. Her plan for the equivalent of the entire defence budget worth of unfunded tax cuts led to economic panic, caused chaos on the financial markets. The UK was not on track to meet its rules, we would be facing a period of instability – and investors tend to avoid insta...

Absolutely love this.

While having a displacement 3x less, Queen Mary II is nearly as long as the world's largest Cruise ship. 345 meters, Far more than 2x as long as a T26.

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

Requirement first. RN has KIPION and FRE and NATO standing fleet for 5 T31. CVSG for 6 T45 and 6 T26. TAPS for 2 more T26. Escort wise, no problem. (at least on paper). I would suggest that this perfectly illustrates the lowest common denominator approach. There is absolutely no allowance for a rea...

Re: New Medium Helicopter [NMH] - (RAF & AAC)

I like the idea of the AW bid but what quantity are being considered and will Labor government cough up the coins. Assuming the budget remains, on the lower end (£900m) it will give 18-22 units, on the higher end (£1.2bn), 24-30 units. Req was max 44 helicopters, to replace 35. MoD has decided for ...

Why does he want to put T700's in the Wildcats? Purely for commonality or is there really a need for the extra 1,200 horses? His points seem to be: - Commonality - Upgrading away from a system designed to fit for old Lynx - Fuel consumption - Platform life extension / longevity - Power for next gen...

I don't see your point the Peacock class were built for role a role that they excelled at they then went on to long service with two other navies All I can see is the RN could not find a role for them after HK The point is that everyone thought they should be useful and as they were cheap they shou...

Just like the black hawk option, AW149 also has the same engine as AH-64E. AW149 is offered with two engine choices: 🟠 Safran 🟠 General Electric The GE's are the same as the engines in our new AH-64E's. Same as the US Army's new AH-64E's and the same as their uprated Black Hawks. There is a full MRO...

Requirements are not numbers of a given platform. Jeesh. Depends. A platform is needed because a Job / tasking or capability is needed. Platform numbers hold relevance, e.g amount needed to give full coverage of an area, e.c.t. however, after that there are multiple factors: Availability, maintenan...

Thing is, We probably can't afford Large SSK's or else it will be at detriment to SSN(R) / AUKUS.

So small ( I mean cheap) SSK's.

a) What value do they bring
b) What Advantages do they have over XLUUV's, permanent seabed monitoring systems, UAV's, Picket ships, UAV's like MQ-9B e.c.t?
