Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion
My favorite is Carmen 90. Simple, fast enough, and really promising. A slightly enlarged version is already under build in US Army. Really? It adopts BMT design, with tri-bow hull form. Why not a family of Caimen 90? Really? first I've heard of it. Do you have a source? MSV(L) I am aware of the pro...

I find odd we are putting our gun platform on wheels and our missile platform on tracks. You would think it should be either the other way round or all on wheels Yeah it makes zero sense except someone.got cheque book fever when M270A2 entered the chat. And just to complete the set. Not entirely sure the cam wrap suits typhoon Only bad taste is that ZJ913 isn't long for this world before heading to the 'breaker's yard' for RTP. Much like her neighbouring sister, ZJ914 or Blackjack. Instead we're paying Draken Europe for a capability we could have done in-house, with what would...

If MROSS-2 and MHC-LSV's core crew is to come from RFA. I fear it’s worse and these plus MROSS-1 / MHC-OSV will also need to be RN crewed also to have any chance of getting a sustainable tanker / solid stores replenishment fleet. Makes the most sense. Combined the actual specialist crews with RN co...

It would be logical for the RN to procure a new or suitable existing radar of excellent quality that could be fitted on T26, T31, QEC, T83, if T83 will being going in the direction of numerous AAW hulls rather than a select few.

Is the PM just going to announce the MRSS has entered the concept phase? The Type 32 has been in the concept phase for 18 months and it still hasn’t been funded or show any tangible signs of progression. Great for creating a headline but not exactly the urgency required when both of the UKs Amphibi...

How easy would it be to add SMART-L to the last three T31s? Where it is situated on the Iver Huitfeldt-class looks little changed. Cost wise it looks in the £10mns per unit so with maybe a £100mn upgrade overall. No chance to add Sampson due to the top weight. In a 2009 NAO report (link below) it s...
