Re: Ground Based Air Defence

Who said immediately. The discussion about UK Defence spending in the aftermath of invasion of Ukraine cuts across many threads and have said before that whilst in the short term certain cuts can be postponed/cancelled, it will be in the longer term that will need to invest to acquire new equipment...

Re: French Armed Forces

Ah, good, confirmation from someone who knows what they are talking about. The Mail reported this two days ago - but, like so much of their stuff, not worth repeating without confirmation elsewhere - they didn't even seem to know whether they were SSBNs and mentioned nothing about the SAMP-T test. ...

Re: Ground Based Air Defence

I think Future Soldier had many good ideas but too many capability gaps today / in the near futyre to pay for the promised equipment in the future. The invasion of Ukraine has shown we need to elimiate or at last minimise those capbility gaps. Air defence needs additional funding, as does logistics...

Re: US FMS for UK BMD Radar

It's a FMS - the UK hasn't officially acquired the radar. ABM Missiles - land-based - will be when ever the Treasury gives the money and presumably the RAF or Royal Artillery will control them. The T45s don't have the ABM yet I believe.

Re: Ground Based Air Defence

There was rumours the UK will buy CAMM-ER That would definitely help with Sky Saber for Army. For Navy wouldn't help the T45's Destroyers because they have Sylver VLS with Aster 15 / 30 missiles. But will definitely help T23 / T26 / T31 Frigates who will probably have Sea Viper but not Sylver. http...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

I don't think anyone on this board would argue against 2 CATOBAR Carriers but I will always settle for 2 STOVL carriers over 1 CATOBAR. The F-35 kind of changes things as well, as much as I like the Harrier, the F-35B makes up a lot of the space between it and other sea launched aircraft. Also with...
