Re: UK Mobile Fires Platform

Both are currently shown with L52. Thank you for clarification. I though that it was L60 but I guess it is mostly common mentioned in relation with platform and that is why I though that it is L60, but I was wrong. Example of Boxer gun module on AGM Iveco 8×8 truck https://below-the-turret-ring.com...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)

Right now we have 6 Infantry Battalions in the 3rd division 4 x Warrior and 2 x Mastiff By the Future Soldier reform there will only be 5 mechanised battalion in two ABCT, all of them equipped with Boxer (wheeled one, of course). Battalions equipped with Mastiff will not stay there as they will be ...

Re: UK Mobile Fires Platform

The Artillery Gun Module...if we could get in soon we could make the UK the main manufacturing centre for it...1 gun system, 3 platforms, Tracked, Boxer wheeled heavy armour, MAN HX wheeled. Module on MAN HX3 is not the same as the one mounted on Boxer. It is not even the same gun, as one is 52 whi...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)

If the wheeled and tracked platforms Dive Modules share many components starting with the engine and so on you are going to get savings retarding support and running costs even if you just cover the purchase of consumables, and any repair of parts schemes. They are not having a same engine. Also on...

tracked noxewr is the obnious choucve as its xommonality with the wheeled variant will produxwe significan saving and any reece nission module choasen can be used on the wheeled version until the tracked version is fully ready. Why it is obvious solution? Can you tell me how good, performance wise,...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)

As I have said, if Ajax fails, then the only option really would be a CRV variant of Boxer. Why? Do you expect that if Ajax is canceled, the Army should just jump to first possible solution without any evaluation of new technologies or experiences from the Ukrainian War? Here however the tracked ve...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)

One final point on mobility in difficult terrain, the Finns are more than happy to use their many wheeled AFV all year round, and the Swedish Archer can handle the climate and terrain in Sweden all year round as we. And yet both Sweden and Finland, and Norway I can add, are more than happy to use t...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)

IMO, tracked Boxer is something that the British Army could take a look into, mostly because they Boxer will become its main armoured vehicle. If there is a need for such a vehicle, of course. Do I think it is a good replacement for FV430? No, mostly because of price, as it would be too expensive an...

Re: RBSL Challenger 3 (Future) Main Battle Tank (British Army)

Is that confirmed that it will get new engine? I don't remember seeing that in the various press releases and articles about the upgrade to Challnger 3. Thanks Even tho some articles suggest new engine, seems like this is not true. Engine will be upgraded with a new cooling system but it is a not a...

Engine and Transmission, and I am sure the armour and any upgrade package are the latest available. Yes, compared to CR3, which will only get new engine, new transmission, 3rd generation of Hydrogas suspension, new modular armour, enhanced hull protection, new thermal sights ... Sure they could inc...

Re: RBSL Challenger 3 (Future) Main Battle Tank (British Army)

The biggest advantage of the KF-52 is that it is a NEW platform, not an upgrade to a long serving platform forty thirty to forty years old. Looks like a Leopard 2 hull under there, and of course CR2 is only 20-30 years old by comparison. As @mr.fred mentioned, it is upgraded Leopard 2A4 hull (which...

Re: RBSL Challenger 3 (Future) Main Battle Tank (British Army)

could seriously impact on the Army capability. You could argue that a fleet of just 148 Challenger 3, isn't really a serious capability to begin with. True, but it is completely unrelated to anything I posted. Or maybe someone believe that if the Army decide to cancel current upgrade and go with ei...

Re: RBSL Challenger 3 (Future) Main Battle Tank (British Army)

At this stage the KF-51 is a new 130mm turret on a Leopard 2 hull maybe at bast we could fit this 130mm turret on the Challenger hull Why not, Rheinmetall are still in the developmental stage for the Challenger 3 and the KF-51 is their new product and maybe we could get a good deal to be the launch...

Additional render of "Tracked Boxer" https://twitter.com/JonHawkes275/status/1536354826287816704?cxt=HHwWgIC93eKkndIqAAAA I found it really ugly and it looks bigger than Boxer which itself is already quite huge. Still, if it good as other IFVs like CV90 or Lynx, it could be interesting for...

Re: AS-90 Self-Propelled Gun (Army)

How many suppliers offer a 60 calibre barrel? If none do, then it’s a development risk that perhaps we shouldn’t be taking at the moment. If only some, or 1, do then is it worth reducing the competition? That is true, not many are offering 69 cal barrel ... currently. There is proposal for K9A2, wh...

Re: AS-90 Self-Propelled Gun (Army)

The position I was taking was adopting the Krab and upgrading our existing AS-90 turrets to the same standard as the Polish ones. I see this as a cheaper alternative to buying new platforms as only the minimum amount of upgrades would be carried out. Yes this will mean it will not meet all of the A...

Re: AS-90 Self-Propelled Gun (Army)

With a new Hull and modifying the existing AS-90 turrets, could it be a less costly idea and better the simply upgrading the AS-90 with the modified turret which would obviously be the cheapest option? Just because it is upgrade it does not mean it will be cheap. CR3 upgrade will cost some 1.3 bill...

Interesting to know that the strength of a UK M270 Battery is eighteen launchers. Currently we have one regular Regiment and one Reserve Regiment. Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)

Seems like Slovakia could go with CV9030 as a replacement for its old BMPs. What is interesting that ASCOD, which ended third, had problems with vibrations and noise.
