Re: Royal Artillery/Royal Horse Artillery future developments
Again Archer was not a bad move as a deep fires support platform to light mech brigades yes it is a bit bigger and heavier than we might like but being wheeled it can keep up with these fast moving units Archer was interim solution till MFP is selected. It is not intended as a support for LBCT and ...

Re: Royal Artillery/Royal Horse Artillery future developments
Seems pretty nailed on now. BAE wins either way. Have to say I think Archer might be a better system, but BAE's industrial offer on it was fairly derisory in comparison to RCH155. Personally I'd be looking more at the MAN based version than Boxer and even the original DONAR programme on an Ajax cha...

Re: Royal Artillery/Royal Horse Artillery future developments
Seems like UK, together with Germany, might go with Boxer RCH 155 as a MFP solution Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin today [Wednesday] to deepen our defence and security cooperation. As an initial step, the UK and Germany will announce plans for a joint en...

Re: General UK Defence Discussion
I would agree but would add short deployments of a Battlegroup from time to time The best you can expect is company sized battlegroup for some joint excerise with Guyana Armed Forces and occasional visit of a frigate or some other ship. SFA or Rangers could be deployed somewhat longer under pretext...

Re: General UK Defence Discussion
A strategy to woo Guyana into using some of their oil money to contribute towards UK forces protecting them against Venezuela as they get stinking rich from the oil in peace would go a long way. Build up a local naval and air base in one of the dependencies or even Guyana itself. UK is not is posit...

Not directly connected with NMH but contract for 6 H-145 for Cyprus and Brunei is signed, value of the contract is £122 million No delivery timeline for the German-built helicopters has been disclosed, but the MoD says it expects the Jupiter HC2s to “take over aviation duties in Brunei and on Cyprus...

Articles suggest at least one Only place where that phrase is used is ... Dutch study for the fire support Boxer. Looks like it was considered as not feasible due weight and transport restrictions.

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)
Would this be useful for protection against drones? In what way? RT-60 is not really designed to fight drones and while could be used not sure how effective it would be. There are better solutions for this, like Skyranger 30 or 35, both tested on Boxer and first one even ordered by Germans. But who...

Either it should be 74 in total with 17 Squadron included or 71 without it, for 3 frontline and OCU squadron. Also OCU squadron will probably have more than just 8 planes.mrclark303 wrote: ↑03 Apr 2024, 13:45 71 total fleet
3×12 aircraft front line Squadrons 1+8 aircraft OCU +3 trials.

Very interesting that Jordan retired them given that they did not have an equivalent replacement at size/scale. Jordan is intending to replace all CR1 with Leclercs and B1 Centauro. Thing is most of these are donations, I don't think Jordan could afford to get full replacement for all CR1 on their ...

Indeed because the vehicle you posted an image off has a gross vehicle weight limit which is less that the weight which can be lifted by chinook. So you are still missing the point. So regardless of what configuration it is(gun, cab whatever) it should still be lift able by chinook. Somehow I doubt...
