Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)
So what are we going to do in the meantime. The use of Warrior as an interim platform was suggested but that is due to leave service when Boxer arrives. We could order a new platform had probably have it in service sooner, the replacement of the CVR(T) is supposed to be a priority isn't it? Seem li...

Re: Boeing E-3D Sentry AEW.1 (AWACS) (RAF)
I read a report stating cancelling 2 wedge tails cost the mod £18m in fines to boeing. I assume that's the loss of discount through EOS that ordering all 5 would have brought, rather than plans incompetence if the individual price would have been the same if we ordered 3 in the first place with an ...

DYNR that for Ten years we did not even have a Strike Carrier. Now we have two and I would not be at all surprised for CAMM to be fitted to the QEC at their first Refit (or even in a more routine capability insertion), subject of course to sufficient funding being available and continued Carrier Re...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]
I agree that having the launchers available is a good thing. And yes there is an option to procure missiles as say a UOR, but modern weapons can not be produced rapidly. There needs to be an adequate war stock for troubled times. Pity that the money for such a situation is not there. Indeed. Defenc...

Re: National Flagship for Britain
Well if they are going to build one - can it be a " Q ship " :lolno: Or how about large medical facility's to help with disaster relief ....it need a better reason for spending the money imo One of the reasons for keeping HMY Britannia was that she could operate as a hospital ship in war....

None so far. Quite a few to choose from...FGR, FG or in FAA parlance FA. Been a trend recently e.g. C-17 or C-130J (even though its actually the C4 or C5). Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
Apologies if I have missed this somewhere, has the F35 been given an official type designation in UK service - e.g. GR Mk 1 or similar? No mention even on the RAF website. Cheers.

Given that they have been a key element in the most important Royal Navy deployment since the Falklands War, VFMA-211 heading for home strikes me as quite a poignant moment. Safe journey Marines

Re: Raytheon Sentinel R1 (RAF)
I saw a comment on Twitter that one reason Sentinel was binned was that it was a "corps-level asset for a brigade-level army". Ouch. It somewhat makes a sense. on the other hand, things like Sentinels give additional strength to "brigade(if even that)-level Army". Definitely, ev...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]
It’s no wonder HMG are pushing so hard at T31 export, with multiple UK built export T31’s the T32 budget line can be deferred almost indefinitely. If building additional T26’s isn’t an option then jettisoning the RN T31’s onto the export market to be replaced by T32’s constructed in the early 2030’...

Re: RN anti-ship missiles
On the interim SSGW I’m wondering what the Navy would put them on, other than T31. HMS Glasgow is my due to be commissioned until 2027 and is probably more a candidate for the FCASW. T45 - doesn’t the CAAM mushroom farm take away the space? The CAMM silos will go in the space previously set aside f...

You also get an extra 100 points if the aircraft type proposed has been fitted /is compatible with DAS/DIRCM. I assume Sentinel had this fitted? Is there a Global Express simulator in the UK? Yes it did, and yes at Burgess Hill in London. Sentinel airframes we’re very heavily modified even MoD woul...

Sounds like there looking for something in the medium range biz jet category something like a challenger 605. In the biz jet category that range isn’t really that long if you go into the acj220, global express or gulfstream 650 size you could nearly double that range. Probably a daft question, but ...

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion
The idea of having them blend in would be all well and good if they were not massively advertised during design and build phase so anyone who wants will know exactly what they look like. This has always been my problem with the "we'll make it look innocent, so they won't know what it is" ...
