https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-questions/detail/2022-07-04/29912 To be read as, we've no idea. Crowsnest is still a shit show, CSG21 kits hardly worked and it's only in the past few months on PoW that they've gotten some software functionality. It's taken years to get to the sam...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
They're assembling F35s. And many of the partner nations have had access to design material for their own inputs (the UK more than anyone else). The F35 is far more multinational than the US 6th gen NGAD will ever be.

No, full 360 degree surveillance at all times (besides below the aircraft to a certain extent and interference caused by the tail).

Re: RN anti-ship missiles
Actually I think Donald’s canister launched Sea Venom-ER has a lot of merit if technically feasible. MBDA aready lists Sea Venom as having “Options exist for surface to surface variants”. Giving the T31 the option of embarking up to 16 canister launched dual use anti-ship/land attack missiles with ...

Re: Type 45 Destroyer (Daring Class) (RN) [News Only]
Type 45s patrolling the coast to defend the mainland is pure fantasy. Even with Block 1/1NT it's only terminal defence with a *ground range* of around 10km. So unless you put one in the Thames it won't be much use. Same goes for sea skimmer defence, except this time it's radar horizon as the limitin...

Re: RN anti-ship missiles
Sea Venom looks very small. It is only 120 kg in weight. Sea Squa was 145 kg, and 4 of them were carried on Lynx (which has 12% less max-take-off weight than Wildcat). Can we add some booster to Sea Venom or enlarge the booster, or add small booster and replace the current booster with a jet, to im...

Each Launch Vehicle can carry up to twelve Sky Sabre missiles compared to the eight ER variants. Going by similar systems each Battery should contain one Radar platform, one Control platform and between three and four Launch platforms, all based on the same MAN HX Truck chassis. All of this is rela...

I Think we would be really lucky to see the T83 with 36 x CAMM in mushrooms (cheap) & 48 mk 41....but fingers crossed With current trends (both RN and globally) I think that's very pessimistic. You're describing an increase of just 12 CAMM over the Type 45. I would expect to see 64 Mk41 equival...

Re: RN anti-ship missiles
How does the Starstreak compare to CAMM? With T45 due to get CAMM on a future refit, this will make CAMM the main short range (15 mile) AAW defence for RN escorts. Will Starstreak either give RN a capability that CAMM does not or similar capability at lower price? Starstreak has a significantly sho...

Re: RN anti-ship missiles
Isn't it the case that the RN only got serious about AShMs when the CV-01 programme got canned and all of a sudden they bolted Exocet to any thing that would float? Isn't RN doctrine that the primary ship killer is the SSN, followed by carrier strike and then, a distant third, escort fired missiles...

“The Planning Assumption for Service Entry for Future Cruise /Anti-Ship Weapon on the T26 Frigate and Typhoon aircraft is 2027 and 2030 respectively.” I am a bit confused as I was under the impression that timescales for FCASW were slipping back into potentially the 2030's, hence the possibility of...

Have seen claims the new variant Aster 30 Block 1NT contracted for future fit to the T45 extends max range by 25% to 150 km/ 80 nm and presume similar percentage increases in range for performing subsonic and supersonic targets. FWIW that only stems from new lofted flight profiles so you won't get ...

And to add - submarines and their torpedos cannot make up for a lack of anti-ship missiles. What it does show IMO is that we need more SSNs and F35Bs, and more modern weapons to be be available to them and other air assets. 100%. The available weapons suite is crippling the British F35 fleet right now (and for the foreseeable future). SPEAR 3 is only a step in the right direction and real...

But how dose NS110 stack up against Artisan. Thales say NS110 has a max range of 280 KM and can detected surface targets at 80 km plus track 1000 targets and is it a cheaper option Tricky to tell. NS110 supposedly uses/used more modern architecture (GaN amplifiers, digital beam forming on an elemen...
