Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]
Wouldn't surprise me that the investigation phase determined that the Mk 41's were not the greatest addition. The T31's have a very minimal sensor set which doesn't really help. Are you talking about a lack of sonar or something else? Bargain bin radar, couple of eo directors, minimal ESM, no sonar...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]
As I said yesterday it is a great sign of what we hope the RN can achieve, but lets not bank on it yet. Completely agree. It would be greay to have Mk41 on T31. It would be amazing to have 4 whole modules on T31. But I don't think anyone can say that with certainty yet, it's an aspiration without a...

Re: Warrior Armoured Vehicles (British Army)
All of this is quite right but JC will have one or two 3030 turrets in hand and the Leopard 1 3105 ( part of the 3030 range) upgrade was just a turret , turret ring adaptor and power cable adaptor This is just a back up if Ajax falls down again and Warrior needs to carry on in the armoured Recce ro...

Re: Ground Based Air Defence
I would agree but we will need more SHORAD in the Infantry battalions maybe a Troop with 4 AD Boxers and a Radar Boxer all liked in and yes we need to make use of the CTA-40's we have laying around Been saying for years that every IFV has to have a secondary robust AD capability, with the emphasis ...

Apologies stand corrected. Both in the industrial heartland, midlands and manchester. Likely surrounded by the supply chain and also by other industrial firms to poach from. My point is "hey ever thought of relocating to merthyr tydfil" is likely not a great draw for the kind of talent th...

A screwdriver plant in wales with no future orders is a distraction IMHO all activity should be concentrated in the hub in the north east to give that ecosystem the best chance of long term survival Why? The industry in the North East was all but dead for a decade. Why is it more deserving than Sou...

B) I have never seen or heard of a project that having been mismanaged for 23 years miraculously cures itself without at least a radical change in management. Feel free to quote one. There was a radical change in management in 2010. C) Cost of support over the lifetime is generally 3 times acquisit...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)
[ So I still can't understand why there is a need for so many Boxers unless, in the end there is intention to replace FV432 with it, no matter how expensive that would be. Or maybe to use them as a base for many other variants but than should planned replacement for FV432 be used for that as those ...

Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)
Why do people never use Challenger 2 as the example of why you can't fix a bad design? I believe the Challenger 1 wasn't that bad, it might not have won NATO gunnery competitions, but it dropped the hammer on Iraq's armour in the first Gulf War, absolutely malleted them. CR2 failed acceptance trial...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)
In a manufacturing phase there is no reason for payment other than on completion and acceptance of a finished product. That's not true at all. It's perfectly reasonable that having committed to long-lead items (electronics, steel armour, drivetrains, turrets) that payments would be made in line wit...
