Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Still 8x F-35B? Just 809. When 617 arrive it will probably be another 8. I wonder if this will be the start of 'touch and go' type deployments. Allows time for the Photex and some training but not long enough to expose the lack of personnel/infrastructure in the F35 force. I guess it's a chance to ...

Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)
I would be shocked if Ajax is not equipped with airburst rounds. With the proliferation of UAVs on the modern battlefield the capability is not an optional extra. France has been testing it's Jaguar EBRC vehicles recently targeting drones in naval applications, so the CTA canon is definitely capabl...

Interesting video, not something I'd expect put out by the Army. Guess more questions than answers, like will AJAX actually get the Airburst rounds?

Spain and italy are our size or smaller and are ordering Tranche 4 Typhoons They're not buying mk2 Escan though... Absolutely. So, to the advocates of another 24x Tranche 4 buy, I'd offer as an alternative: the upgrade of the T2's (67) with ECRS2 etc...less mass/resilience but more bang for the buc...

Re: Multi Role Vehicle – Protected - MRV(P)
It is probably worth creating new threads for each of them LMP-H, LMP-M, LMP-L and LMP-U. That's not how it was presented at DVD/IAV. "To achieve this, the British Army will outline a case for procuring three new families of vehicles: a Medium Protected Mobility vehicle, a Light Protected Mobi...

Re: Foxhound Protected Vehicle
I know JLTV had 4 doors and it was initially selected for the MRV-P contract but I always thought the rear door on the Foxhound was a British army requirement to fit their military doctrine where soldiers would have better protection exiting the vehicle from the rear. Is that just outdated thinking...

Re: Foxhound Protected Vehicle
Foxhound was always 2 front doors, one rear? That is true, there are also 2 top hatches. But if this version does not have rear door and it could carry 2 or more men in the rear end, those would not be able to fast exit out of vehicle. Altho there is still roof exit but having side doors would be b...

Re: Multi Role Vehicle – Protected - MRV(P)
There was one company pitching the Steyr engine from Foxhound as their solution. Eyebrows into orbit. Thales is still making a pitch for Bushmaster and/or Hawke; Hawkei has a Steyr engine that's common to Foxhound, apparently. Don't know about its potential for other vehicles, but there is a small ...

MRV-P is definitely dead.Djpowell1984 wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 01:22 is MRV(P) British to be cancelled? or change requirement? or delay as JTLV upgrade A2 Version ?
I don't know how Light Protected Mobility and Medium Protected Mobility differ, but they're definitely in the same space.

I was getting confused by the references to Supacat and Babcock and started to think Babcock had purchased Supacat. What is the rational for two suppliers on these small orders, there are times I get the feeling these orders are to keep Supacat afloat as I don't see the rational for open top transp...

Yep, was flying around the track and was looking good. Interesting internal layout, but also lots of potential for allied nation teaming.

Back of envelope adding inflation to Challenger 2 unit costs and dividing by Ajax We could get 702 brand-new Challenger 2s for the price of 446 new AFVs. 589 AJAX. Does any body know if the UK/France uses technologies licensed from the states for Storm Shadow? My thinking is that to sell it to other countries we need to get all 3 in agreement and maybe competing interests could limit who we sell it too. No ITAR and getting it in a Mk41 is vital to that export...
