Re: a future Reconnaissance Corps ?

That is the role of the Light Cavalry Regiments within 1st Division, equipped with Jackal. Whether it would be a good idea to have some mounted infantry battalions using similar vehicles working alongside them, well they would at least be more deployable than the Strike Brigades. https://twitter.co...

Re: Integrated Review (previously SDSR 2020)

I must admit I prefer it when aid goes to NGOs operating in countries rather than the countries themselves, even though though they are far from perfect. As far as taking the moral high ground, this has zero effect on countries like China and little or no effect on those like India. Yes seeing poor...

Re: RN anti-ship missiles

It is not that massive compared to other launch systems when comparing deck space, though you would probably only get half as many missiles. But it would give you the ability to launch LRASM from the deck rather then a VLS as was the question. Of course if we had put the Mk41 on the T-31 this would...

Re: FV4034 Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank (British Army)

Makes sense - realistically it's almost inevitable we collaborate with either Europe or the US. We don't have the political backing to support the MBTs in service we already have and don't really have any international market share worth defending. Just an observer status. Doubt there's the money f...

You may, or may not know that we initially leased the a/c and had to 'handle with care' if we were to (theoretically) hand them back some day. That there is nothing new in this (except throwing caution to the wind :) ) is captured by " “exploit” the existing capability" in the linked arti...

Does it say what is SPEAR1 capability as 2 +3 are parallel, for different uses but sharing some technology, and 4+% are different missiles, sequentially time wise, but meant for the same uses? Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)

interesting if used by helicopters forces Spear would need alteration to be used by helicopters. It would need a booster rocket to bring it to a speed where the jet could function. This is also the reason why Kongsberg proposes the NSM not the JSM for helicopter use. If I got the gist, the idea was...
