Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)
Interesting. On Astute the main payment milestone was handover, and it's a much lumpier product. Long lead items were generally purchased by the MOD directly and provided to BAE as segregated Project stock ie GFE. If 3.4 billion paid out of 6 billion refers to long lead items then there should be a ...

Re: Ajax Armoured Vehicles (British Army)
"With an initial payment of £480 million, withheld since December 2020 due to challenges with noise and vibration, the MOD will resume payments to General Dynamics as the vehicles are scheduled to enter initial operating capability between July and December 2025" I'd still like to see hard...

Not seen this before - Stingray for Poseidon https://www.raf.mod.uk/news/articles/raf-chooses-uk-manufactured-sting-ray-torpedo-for-poseidon-fleet/ The interesting thing will be if a wing kit is developed for it.... Sounds like a good idea, we really do need another 3 Poseidon to make a viable flee...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon (RAF)
I'm thinking that Germany are not going to allow New typhoons to be sold to any new country, could be wrong but that's just the way it seems to be going, and unless some new government gets in I can't see that changing , like people have said lot's of times, thank goodness we not doing GCAP with the...

Re: RBSL Challenger 3 (Future) Main Battle Tank (British Army)
Somebody has open up a good argument for a debate on the totality of the entire program ???? Everyone opinions are welcomed !!!! https://x.com/nicholadrummond/status/1725209961297310002?s=20 And where do Nicholas and KNDS are expecting money for 148 new tanks to come from? And for some 100 other su...

Re: RBSL Challenger 3 (Future) Main Battle Tank (British Army)
Yea .... that won't happen. Even after review of the FS, number of tanks to be upgraded will not be increased and will stay just 148 tanks. There is very little chance, if not at all, that this would be changed. Why not? Logically it makes complete sense. How can the Army continue to ask for an inc...

Re: RBSL Challenger 3 (Future) Main Battle Tank (British Army)
Personally I think Challenger 3 is worth doing at this level to retain a core of expertise in heavy armoured vehicles that could be scaled up in the future if threats and circumstances change. It's way too late to invest in a new platform of the same generation, and doing nothing means effectively g...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon (RAF)
The select committee session with the Def Secretary was interesting regards Typhoon. He said that a route was available to get the Saudi order sorted out but was very coy as to what it was. It sounded as though negotiations were at a delicate point. Is there a quid pro quo to be had with Germany. W...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon (RAF)
Fully upgrading tranche 2 and 3 Typhoon to the new spec with Radar 2 would be a big step in the right direction... I very much doubt they will, I would be surprised if more than 30 odd tranche 3 jets get radar 2. The high price for the radar 2 is probably down to the comparatively small number orde...

Re: Eurofighter Typhoon (RAF)
The claim that Eurofighter ECR will amount to a few pods being strapped to a couple existing airframe ist completely made up! Just like Tornado ECR was a dedicated EW platform with all the EW gimmicks included the EF ECR will be dedicated new build full spectrum EW platforms. Tornado ECR was modern...

What South Korean production line? The last a/c was delivered to South Korea 11 years ago. You really don’t know what your talking about when it comes to modifying a/c and certifying them so best to leave it there. Why on earth are they going for second hand airframes? That have been based in China...

In production (and being delivered in South Korea and Turkey), the point being that the airfix instructions have been long written and refined and are in current use by two countries... Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)
Yeah that's what I think we're all worried about. But a watertight agreement signed before the election, plus a big Northern Jobs angle, would make it difficult.
Plus the fact that it would take five years to get Germany on board
