Re: The war in Ukraine

Since the Uk doesn't believe it needs a sizeable tank capability why don't we just gif our retired tanks which we don't plan to upgrade and gift
them to Ukraine.?

Re: Boeing Chinook (RAF)

With the 3 year delay to the Chinook order will the RAF want to take advantage of the upgraded Honeywell engine, T55-714C,which will be ready for production in 2024? This upgraded engine, which is company funded, is estimated to provide a 22% increase in power over the current T55-714A model putting...

Interesting article posted by someone call Xav on Navalnews. The MN are going to relaunch the fire stricken SSN Perle by cutting it in half and then doing the same to the decommissioned SSN Saphir! That is quite an engineering challenge. https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2021/04/naval-group-start...

The GNA has not responded publicly to the reports of the takeover of Sirte, which is roughly midway between Libyan rival armed forces and authorities based in the east and west of the country. - LNA (Haftar), the one in the East (and latterly South) claims to have taken it The LNA is supported by E...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Yes it is most definitely not stealthy in the sound department  I see the standard start point is just aft of the forward bridge at the 350' mark. If the deck is clear and/or the aircraft was fully loaded can it not use more or all of the deck for take-off? For instance at the 550' mark o...

I was on the Round Tower when PWLS arrived and would love to be there to see QE join her.

Two very interesting articles from The Economist recently. It is a paysite but I recall you can read 3 or 4 articles for free. So with luck we could see the second Squadron stood up in 2022/23, and final deliveries of the initial purchase by 2025 possibly. Yes UK will start receiving Lot 12 aircraft in 2020 when three jets are scheduled to be delivered. Under Lot 13, six aircraft will be delivered in 2021 and eight aircraf...

Confirmation the USMC will deploy an F35 squadron for QE's first deployment is great news. Re: F-35B Lightning II (RN & RAF)

My View is that there are currently 48 F35B on order, with a slow uptake, putting 12-18 aircraft on it over the next 10 years still gives the same operational capacity of HMS Invincible at the time of the Falklands, once all F35b are in service you will have the same capacity as the Carrier/Battle ...
