Re: Astute Class Attack Submarine (SSN) (RN)

Well that is what will almost certainly happen, if we have to wait for the Dreadnoughts to be almost completed before SSNR can get underway! UNLESS:- a) Design and Development work can be (and are) carried out in tandem with Dreadnought. b) The Timescales for SSNR build can be (and are) dramaticall...

Good video from the BBC reinforces our need for long range fire artillery and good air defences against drones.

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)

We need additional munitions to be integrated onto the F-35Bs as a matter of urgency. ASRAMM and Paveway IV just isn't enough to get the best out of the aircraft. Been saying this for years...I've got a list I could re-post... Some are straightforward, involving re-use of the Spear form factor (or ...

Re: The war in Ukraine

There are some reports flying around that this may also be a broken arrow type situation with 2 nuclear weapons on the ship have gone down with the ship. If so - they will need to be recovered soon for both security and ecological reasons. True hopefully these weapons if they exist were not armed. ...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)

The RWS posted above seems to have a lot of exposed parts, and ammunition that could easily get damaged. Much preferred by me at least would be a protected version in a turret. With regard to the Boxer increase in numbers, it appears that the Army are sending a large Quantity of Mastiff to Ukraine.

Without a doubt the ability to shoot down drones should be a priority, and also some with a 30mm cannon equipped turret.

Re: General UK Defence Discussion

The main lesson I have drawn from Ukraine so far is not that we need new equipment (although we do) but instead that we need far larger stocks of ammunition, bombs, missiles etc. We would be running out within days (a week at most) in any high intensity conflict. This must be done as a matter of ur...

Nice to see that due to the war in the Ukraine any defence of the realm is a very low priority, and that according to Mr Sunak no extra pennies will be spent on defence.

Skilled tradesmen are in short supply in the ship building industry and that will not improve unless the skills are taught in colleges and through apprenticeships.
