Re: Airbus A400M Atlas (RAF)

Make of it what you will. Would like to see the source myself. Found the source that got left out of the article (same source as the 'big RN projects' article) - Ctrl+F "Additional purchase of A400M" to find the entry. https://committees.parliament.uk/publications/6491/documents/70646/def...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]

I understand UK/RN ammunition stock and engineering support is dangerously low, as noted in the following article. https://www.navylookout.com/how-can-fewer-frigates-make-a-more-effective-royal-navy-fleet/ For me, "filling the cilo" or, obtaining "enough stock of ammunition" are...

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]

I agree that having the launchers available is a good thing. And yes there is an option to procure missiles as say a UOR, but modern weapons can not be produced rapidly. There needs to be an adequate war stock for troubled times. Pity that the money for such a situation is not there.

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]

If the T-31 gains two or more eight cell Mk41s then it would make sense for the RN to look at the ExLS Quad Pack system again. We could possibly see the Batch 2 T-26 replacing the Mushrooms with an additional two eight cell Mk41s amidships but these would probably not be "Strike" length l...

Re: General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper/Protector (UCAV) (RAF)

I wonder if the Mojave could carry a radar big enough to replace the CROWSNEST on the UK's carriers? With its short take off and if the Carrier heads into the wind it may not need a catapult to launch and it may only need barrier rather then arrestor wires to land. Just thinking out of the box as i...

160. Be nice if the UK ordered a decent amount of its future Helicopters, but cannot see that happening.

Spain orders additional typhoons Great news for the UK as well, over 35% UK content (usually c45% but with the Hensoldt radar it probably drops a little). This and Quadriga for the Luftwaffe means a fair bit of work for the UK, all we need is the Saudi's to follow up with their 48 additional aircra...

Kind of like the Black Hawk especially the version with wings with a big weapon capacity. Down side is its age and not much in the way of UK content.

The station commander said F35B planes will be in Alaska next year and in the USA. As it was mentioned PWLS going somewhere cold I put the two facts together. I said nothing about April.

PWLS needs to do sea trials with the F35B, and get the crew up to speed with handling jets. So I suspect it will visit the USA for that. Then maybe join in with a NATO exercise.
