Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)

Sorry, but when in service Swingfire was class as the Army's long range ATGW, only beaten by the TOW on its Lynx AH-7. However you are correct regarding the FV438, Infantry Battalions had their Milan Section(s) which varied greatly in size over time. As I also mentioned the Spartan MCT was also int...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)

I still think with the Boxers RWS's being fitted with Javelin the battalion's need to replace the ATGW company with a Brimstone Over watch company these should have 9 vehicles with 18 ready missiles giving each Battalion 162 ready missiles. this could go someway to replacing the light gun in the Ar...

Re: Current & Future Amphibious Capability - General Discussion

the projects talked about by the RN and HMG are SSS MRSS LSS Type 32 So if we were to try and max these out what could we have 6 x Type 32 based on a Absalon to allow the RN to use them as GP frigate or a close in LSS 4 x MRSS based on a 200 x 32 flat top LPD capable of carrying 12 helicopters each ...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)

But with in the BCT's there will a Ajax equipped Cavalry and a Armoured regt with CH-3 doing those jobs LJ wrote That is assuming Ajax actually enters service. On the defensive yes the Armoured Regiments Squadrons would provide fire support for the Infantry Battalions in most caseswith the Infantry...

Re: The war in Ukraine

What will happen as has happened in all other wars where this type action has taken place is solders will fight on to the death and take more Russians with them rather than give up and be murdered with no hope this will cost the Russian just as it cost the Japanese and the Germans if your enemy thin...

For me the thing that stands out is the lack of a full width hangar and a second spot for operating up to 4 helicopter plus I would ditch the Phalanx and fit 4 x 40mm

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)

With Javelin being fitted to the RWS's on Boxer the biggest step for the Boxer battalions would be getting a Brimstone Over Watch company in place of its ATGW company giving them organic fire power out to 25+ km's this could see the Boxer battalions with fire power like so 50 to 2000 meter = Infantr...

Re: Boxer / Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV)

I still think the Boxer Battalions need something like a Cavalry Squadron/Company of say 12 boxers fitted with a turret equipped with a medium Auto cannon and ATGW. This unit could provide each Battalion with both a Recce and direct fire support capabilities. But with in the BCT's there will a Ajax...

Looks like Boxer will get RS4 Protector and Javelin. https://www.kongsberg.com/kda/what-we-do/defence-and-security/remote-weapon-systems/protector-rs4/ Real pity we're not buying the RS6 variant though... https://www.kongsberg.com/kda/what-we-do/defence-and-security/remote-weapon-systems/protector-...

For me I would like to see 20 plus 25 meter 30 knots boats with a Boxer style module set up with

12 x sea cadet
10 x missile = 12 sea spear
10 x gun boat = 1 x 12.7mm stabilized GAU-19 plus 4 x LMM

Plus other modules like MCM , ASW , mine laying

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion

The B1's would more than likely be OK with 4 x 12.7mm HMG's and a hand full of Hero-120's . Any 30mm's need to go to the RFA's What I would like to see the RN end up with is 12.7 mm , 40mm , 57mm & 127mm like so Type 83 = 1 x 57mm , 4 x 40mm , 4 x 12.7mm Type 26 = 1 x 127mm , 4 x 40mm , 4 x 12.7...

Yes maybe but the 40 ships being built would need 2600 + VL cells and the remaining CCG's have 2684 Cells

What are u putting in all these VLS silos your buying considering there’s next to nothing at present that we have to use in them and how much of the budget are you allocating to fill them. Maybe the way forward could be to take type 32 and 83 budgets as they come to light and role in together and build

6 x Type 47's based on a 145 meter A-140 with 64 VLS and 1 x 57mm and 2 x 40mm

3 x Type 84 Cruisers at 180 x 24 meters with 140 VLS , 3 x 127mm , 4 x 57mm as A2AD system in it self
