Re: SSN-AUKUS Future Astute Replacement (2030s) (RN) [News Only]
So your saying technically we could just carry on building with Australia, the systems might have to be different and not American.....it would cost alot more and take longer to build for both countries , but technically we could do it ,heck shame we couldn't offer Canada some also 😂 , except don't ...

Re: SSN-AUKUS Future Astute Replacement (2030s) (RN) [News Only]
Just a quick second thoughts, hypertheticaly if say trump did pull out of AUKUS deal to supply Australia with American submarines , does UK have the ability to joint build with Australia, with UK systems, not sure about American agreement on tech nuclear shares on power plants though, wether it ...

More potentially odd news out of Denmark, after the IH announcement they are now apparently buying NASAMS, IRIS T and MICA for SHORAD.

Re: F-35B Lightning (RAF & RN)
Totally sceptical about RAF F35A need tbh ,......in a few years " theoretically" or should I say in a certain time span the RAF would be getting a new long range gcap 6 th gen fighter.....now they wanting a F35A 5 th gen longer range fighter to basically do the same job ,,ok not with same range or ...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
IHs don't use Thales CMS they use Terma C flex
https://www.terma.com/media/bqshqbk5/42819-terma-c-flex-combat-a4-v6-low.pdf
So the ship uses both (as it is also noted in the official TACTICOS website). Not impossible, can happen.
For example, they can (in principle) integrate TACTICOS CMS ...

Flipping heck, so they bought the radar from Thales but not the CMS, I thought that was a uniquely British defence acquisition strategy. It would explain why the Germans and Netherlands navies have not has the same issues on their side.
I wonder why they can't bring Thales in to upgrade the ...

From the navalnews article above
However, also as per the recommendation of the Chief of Defence, the Iver Huitfeldt-class ships should not be scrapped or sold, but rather be repurposed. Specifically, the ships should have their sensor and weapons capabilities scaled down, and be turned into long ...

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
Iver Huitfeldt class was built cheap, and to achieve it, its weapons systems are largely integrated by Danish navy themselves. In other words, the systems integration was done on Navy's own responsibility.
My speculation, from here .....
I guess this happens because the engineers of the navy ...

If the weapons 'system' is irreparable I can't see how ripping it all out and fitting something turnkey could possibly more expensive than buying new ships. They also want to keep the Absolons for ASW but bin off the IHs completely. This just looks like Admirals wanting new shiny ships.

Re: Current & Future Escorts - General Discussion
There was the Indonesian concept of a bow stretch AH140 and adding a VLS there.
Did think of that but it's much harder to splice a Shipbucket image there because you'd need a new VLS silo.
Like I said, the whole idea's flawed and that's why I came up with the Maya based 'AH170'.
Is the ...

I don't know, 20 more meters is a lot more generators, boat bay's and VLS.
It is also a lot of length/beam ratio not included in the original structural calculations, both in terms of hydrodynamic forces and strength of the ship. As an example, I've spliced in a second amidships section to one ...

Don't buy missile X because it only fits in a mk 41 which the RN doesn't have.

Correct. Safe to assume that NS110 works with TACTICOS as does Mk41. LM has done the integration between Mk41 and ExLS and MBDA/LM have integrated CAMM with ExLS.

If they'd actually retrofitted the 16 Mk41s on the T45s as provisioned for rather than the 24 CAMM farm they could have had 64 CAMM or 32 CAMM and 8 'strike'....seeing as they want now to target the archer before he shoots his arrows.
