GPS jamming and spoofing is a daily occurrence for commercial traffic and has been for years. This is nothing new. Total non-story.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

There is no such thing as a Hanger on an Aircraft Carrier; or a Destroyer, Frigate, RFA Supply ship/Tanker either. What they all do have are HANGARS! Yes, the F35 and other Helicopters might well be in the hangar, or they may not. All I did was to offer a (rather tounge-in-cheek) suggestion as to w...

You do realise there are more than 8 pilots on the carrier currently?

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Just a thought. I know it's extremely difficult (dangerous even) to reload a VLS at sea, due to ship movement - would the same issue occur with an inherantly more stable platform like a carrier? The carriers do load stores through very wide clearence hangar doors... And they already have to do resu...

Regarding Cottesmore's bomb dump, its a lot easier to refurbish exisitng facilties than build anew.
I'm curious, how much explosive storage experience do you have? Or of commisioning/renovating explosive storage facilities?

Have you been to cottesmore recently?

You'd have to assume they'd pick a base with HAS, which really only leaves Leeming, which has other uses at present but is quite modern as fighter bases go.... Sensible Choices (Owned by MoD, HAS in place) Leeming - Clear favourite for a whole host of reasons.. Wattisham - Army, still in use for av...

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Almost any vessel with a flight deck & hangar could ferry replacement aircraft and transfer them across to the carrier using VTOL It would melt the flight deck. I was kind of assuming that they would apply relevant coatings (and strengthening, where applicable), but maybe all posts should be ac...
