Re: Puma Helicopter (RAF)

Sounds like a bit of a veiled threat to be honest. The government allowing BAE to sell their stake in Airbus from a political point if view was insane unless they where willing to purchase the shares themselves. I can't see airbus's selling many commercial helecoptors from the UK when they can prod...

Re: Future UK Combat Aircraft (Project Tempest)

Well if Italy was peeled off by Germany, France and Spain, then Tempest would effectively collapse. UK unlikely to go it alone and Sweden and Japan are only quasi project partners (Japan even less so). If Italy wants them to merge, it might therefore happen....though that would be bad for the UK (an...

Is there not enough life left in at least some of the Reapers to retain them and operate in addition to Protector?

Re: Type 31 Frigate (Inspiration Class) [News Only]

I think the RN intends them to be a bit more fighty than the glorified OPV that some on here seem to suggest they'll be. The comments would also indicate they the RN will use them as such, too

Are they thinking that autonomous off-board systems are going to be more important, and much more numerous, than quite hulls?

Re: Border Force Cutters.

Same boats, different paint jobs.... Not sure. Modern specialist cutter/coast-guard patrol boats are much more optimized for their tasks. Very efficient, which matches very well with (often) thin man-power and support resources in BF/coast-guards. See Damen Stan Patrol 4207. Cannot be a m...

Re: Fort Class Replenishment Ship (RFA)

How can it be a cut when they're not in use by the UK? Sounds very sensible to me to get some cash for these museum pieces. As long as the Treasury lets the Navy keep it. Which they usually don't :( How much cash and how much will UK plc/ship yards benefit from the refurb and possibly future mainte...

In all these discussions regarding armaments and such, are we not missing the point that the T31 will be built to recognised warship survivability standards, whereas the RB2 are built to commercial standards
