True in parts, but remember a carrier can travel 40 miles between satellite revisits, a missile could travel thousands of miles in the same time, so I'd still put the advantage on the missile.

And this is another reason why extra range is important, it gives the carrier group longer to observe and more attempts to take out a missile.
Sorry, I meant the "1000 of satellites in orbit" plan, NOW actually on going by private companies (not sure they will make it, but there are plans and they are investing on it). For example, wifi-nanosats.

There will be no gap, then.

And, missile is a huge IR emitter, so the satellites do not even need good sensor. Cheap one will work well.

I was in Portsmouth this morning. Here are some photos. Back on 17 February (according to one spectator who seemed well informed).

(Forces TV) 24th January 2020
The Royal Navy's HMS Queen Elizabeth has left Portsmouth this morning for her first flight trials with British fighter jets in UK waters. The £3.1 billion aircraft carrier now has three testing points to pass before gaining initial operational capability. During the flight trials, it is expected British F-35Bs will make their first landings on Queen Elizabeth in UK waters.

Try reducing the photo's physical size and resaving as a JPEG. This should make the memory size much lower for a successful upload.
Alternatively, post the originals on a photo sharing website and post links to them here.

Before anyone gets angry. Shes in the eastbound shipping lane which is usual. The westbound one goes through the UK side.

She is not with "HMS Daring" because HMS Daring is presently in 3 Basin in Portsmouth undergoing a major refit.... ;) *wink*

If I was a betting man, I’d put money on QE hanging off Norfolk/Lincolnshire for the deck qualifying phase.

Close to Marham, see?

But I only gamble with other people’s money ;-)

Hmm, Could the French ego take it?

..A picture going around the world showing their pride & joy next to a bigger Britsh carrier :D

An American carrier is one thing, but a British carrier is something else entirely.

On twitter it said "Only three testing points remain to achieve Initial Operational Capability" With one being flight tests in UK waters, do we know what the other 2 are?

I'm guessing....
1. Flight tests (takeoff and landing) in UK waters.
2. Pilot Carrier Qualifications.
3. Landing Signal Officer Qualifications.

I would guess RAS of solid stores with Fort Victoria and interoperability testing with Merlin Crowsnest will both be required before IOC was declared.

Not sure what will be the third...

...maybe operations with 12 F35s onboard, or maybe X number of pilots carrier qualified.

Would she not have to undertake FOST with a full air wing before IOC i.e something like 12 jets plus helicopters

Nope, my nipper has said nothing about this so if it is in the wings then being kept quiet...they are off out again early Feb back up to Scotland for further sea trials and then a run ashorei in Liverpool.
Just spoke to my lad as he is back on board after surviving a Tri Forces jolly skiing/snowboarding week away. He has not heard or been told anything about potential sale of PWLS and all plans for Feb and later on this year for trials are on track.

Another key milestone achieved on our journey to #CSG21 as jets* fly to a British carrier in British waters for the first time in a decade.
This @OC207Sqn training comes ahead of exercises with our operational squadron @OC617Sqn later this year.
Can't distinguish any registration numbers. But jets* is plural....
