I’m not sure it translates linearly.
Perhaps but is RN/MoD/HMG learning as fast as the rebels that are operating the drones?

Any sense of urgency appears to be absent.

They have been training against such things for a while

What they are finding from real world examples will flow into future things too

That’s the price Russia is paying not the price of Iranian manufacture which is less than $50k

Battle damage might be a bit ott but it is a very potent picture of the the results of battle and the work she has been doing. The sort of work we are not used to seeing.

From the above shot it looks like she fired 10 missiles at a minimum, that 20% of her payload in about 3 months off the coast. My mind is wondering how this will play into things going forward.

How many targets could CAMM have neutralised if it had of been fitted, saving the Aster?

What is the most difficult thing being shot by the Houthis a Scud derived ballistic missile?

Unknown but we have seen a type 23 launching CAMM at multiply targets and we replaced a type 45 with a type 23, so it must be up to the task now they have a good idea of what to expect.

I suspect CAMM is more than good enough for the task required, I think the combat engagement system on the type 45 on the other hand would be the real advantage if it was team up with CAMM.

I believe that the CAMM control system shares about 70% of the PAAMS code. Presumably the core code is the same, with the differences being in the interface/ control for the different missiles

Perhaps but RN must also be ready for what is coming in the next 5-10 years along with the inevitable increase in the size and complexity of the swarms.

Hence the T83.

How long the T45 remains cutting edge is a crucial question which will have major implications on forward planning.

HMS Defender will be the first to receive SV CAMM during her current PIP refit.

Exactly what I was wondering, I can't see any News about her since last April. News of Dragon returning to the Fleet this year, but Daring seems to have been in refit forever. She hasn't had CAMM fitted yet either apparently.

It was reported on January 2023 that HMS Daring completes its PIP, hence why I was asking what was going on with her, just seemed to be a bit quite :eh:

Probably piecing her back together from all of the kit nicked off her while in low readiness before the refit/pip started to keep the other 45s going.

When should that happen?
Fortune favors brave sir, said Carrot cheerfully.
What's her position about heavily armed, well prepared and overmanned armies?
Oh, noone's ever heard of Fortune favoring them, sir.
According to General Tacticus, it's because they favor themselves…

If the portsmouth news is correct during her ongoing refit, so this should include the PIP upgrade and the addition of 24 CAMM launchers.

from what I've seen reported - HMS Defender is due to be handed back in 2027 with HMS Duncan next in line. I'm not certain whether these ships will also receive SV-E Capability 1 at the same time. (Upgrade of missiles to ASTER 30 Block 1 standard and upgrades to SAMPSON and the C2 system)

Speaking of PIP.

With the way all the upgrades planned for the type 45's, you get the feeling at the end of the PIP we will have 6 different ships, some with only the PIP, some with Sea Cepter, some with ASTER 30 Block 1 and knowing us some with the Block 1N at end of it.

What a mess, just goes to show how good some of the planning was for the upgrades.

PIP is essential, the others are a mixture of nice to have and must be done to counter obsolesence, some of the mods hadn't even been thought of when PIP was planned. Any fleet will always have vessels at different MOD levels, its how it has always been, unless you accept this you don't improve anything. What is essential though is a commitment that every T45 will receive all the mods in time.
