The thread title specifically says it's a Type 26 Frigate (RN) News Only thread.
It does not say it's an Australian Hunter Class speculation and fantasy thread.

We have separate topics for different discussions. What would be the point of a forum otherwise?

Quote from the RN new and shiny website:
Ready for every eventuality
The Type 26’s missile silos provide a wide choice of weapons to counter any threat
The City Class frigates will boast significant air defence and surface warfare capabilities. These consist of 12 vertical launch system (VLS) cells for the Sea Ceptor surface to air missile (and another 24 multi-purpose MK 41 VLS cells).

Each cell can house four Sea Ceptors, giving each ship a total of 48 missiles, and the MK 41 VLS provides flexibility to utilise a further choice of missiles to counter threats as they emerge.
Good for the RN, meaning both that Type 31 route is more ensured but also that the MK41 on the T26 can be filled with additional CAMM, lets say doing a 16 strike missile load out (like the french), that means 72 CAMM.

What about the T45 though? When the T23 retire, will they be the only asset with mushrooms? Or with they go ExLS or MK41 or Sylver following the italians?

RN now joins the 🇸🇪🇵🇱🇸🇦🇨🇦's for ExLS.
In the normal CAMM world the RN sits amongst 🇨🇱🇧🇷🇵🇰🇳🇿's with mushrooms.
And italians all alone with their Sylver integration (I assume, logically)
( above talks about naval theatre only)

Very interesting. As RN website sometimes does mistake, if my memory works, we need further confirmation. But, anyway, interesting info.

If this does prove to be accurate, I wonder what the forward mushroom farm will become, if anything?

Would certain be tempted to fit, at least one, 40mm Bofors there myself. Even a superfiring 57mm were there space.

Oh yes, all of this is probably as unreliable as it gets, with the website having so many flaws it was incredible.

An interesting development but Gabrielli's thread is all over the place he states the T23 and T26 mushrooms are the same they aren't and that the mushroom farms originated with MBDA Italy and Albatross NG when it is the other way around. MBDA UK designed the revised more compact mushroom farm for T31 and T26. MBDA Italy later began marketing CAMM-ER in the 'new' mushroom farm as an export Naval SAM system to replace the older Albatross system which was based on Aspide which CAMM-ER is replacing in the land role.
Italian Navy don't use CAMM of any version.

UPDATE - I have been contacted by someone with concerns. For the avoidance of doubt, the drone footage was obtained legally by a qualified person in adherence to UK drone legislation and guidance. In addition, the drone is insured, and a flight plan was submitted using drone safety software.

If I read the pictures correctly, the Canadians have 24 CAMM aft in two ExLs. So the Type 26 could do that and then have the other 24 forward replacing the mushrooms.

Are they a Scots gNat, by any chance?

They get so worked up when you publish pictures of frigates being built in Scottish yards

Naval News reporting SEA have won a £15 million Canadian contract for LWT launchers and assuming its for the CSC(T26) frigate, understand the RN T26 does not fit a LWT launcher.

No LWT launcher has been announced but SEA did receive a contract to modernise and upgrade the existing MLTS on T23 to remove obsolescence. This could allow for cross decking at a later date.

I assume that this means £1m per ship fit, so the RN in my mind would be insane not to provide all our escorts (26,31,45) with this capability as the expensive bit is the stingray torpedo which these ships already have onboard in their helicopter weapon magazines.

I understand the argument that submarines torpedoes outrange stingray but it might make them think twice about getting too close to one of our ships or at least provide some ASW attack capability when the helo cann't fly or is doing other things.

T45 has space reserved for MTLS and so does T31, IVer Huitfeldt has torpedo launchers and the Polish swordfish will get them too.

The issue is funds. MOD\RN, hopefully backed with some proper analysis, have decided the funds are better spent elsewhere.

Zooming Into the open Shed door reveals a very large part of Belfast. Are we sure she will be joined together in the new build Hall? I know what the press releases say, but she looks likely to be ready to be joined up before the build hall is finished.

Maybe they will reposition the big already assembled blocks by barge into the new sheds where they will be completed and finished. There will still be substantial work to be done even if the two blocks are done and put together, as can be seen on HMS Cardiff.
