QE's AIS went off at 21:14 last night, SW of Torquay. Earlier, at around 15:00, SW of the Isle of Wight, she'd been doing 24 knots.

just been looking at r09 ark royal ,she and eagle had double hangars about 110mts x 20 mts upper and 66 mts x 16 mts lower ,I could be wrong but about them sizes ,totally willing to be told different .was just wondering why qe class not designed the same idea seems you get a lot more hangar space with 2 decks or was there something totally wrong with the idea with new carriers designs not adopting it .ie qe hangar with also a smaller lower deck say 50-60 mts deck would be similar capacity to a Nimitz class or have been great for amphib deck storage ?

Looks like she has 4 merlins onboard then, is the plan still 9 merlin? does that include the crowsnest version? I looked and couldn't find the exact number in 820nas.

Is Crowsnest version even finished?
Fortune favors brave sir, said Carrot cheerfully.
What's her position about heavily armed, well prepared and overmanned armies?
Oh, noone's ever heard of Fortune favoring them, sir.
According to General Tacticus, it's because they favor themselves…

Not from what I have seen she hasn't. But why would she? She's only conducting Sea Acceptance Trials, not going on operations. I believe she has 2 845 Sqd Merlins embarked for force protection amongst other roles, along with a couple of the 820 Merlins and 2 Chinocks embarked for trials if needed.dmereifield wrote:Is she without escorts?
