An Ungentlemanly Act

Post by handal »

Hope this does not break the site rules, but I've been wanting another gander at this oldie for awhile now ( For personal use ofc ;D ). The quality is ok, but the sound has a buzz; download is better. It certainly still makes me smile; best "documentary" ever on the Falklands

Its why I downloaded it; for the last few years it has been very hard to find and all the copies you can buy have lots of complaints about being fakes, etc.

If I could get a 4.99 white label I would, but paying pirates is not my thing.

If you send me a pm email that can take a 1.8 GB attatchment I'll send you a copy. k ?

I'm uploading this to my you tube as an unlisted now ( it's taking forever atm ) so the little shit who's using it as a personal income train with the free now give us ya credit card sites won't see it

It ran out of time ln so I'm trying again...sigh :/

I'll edit this reply again and past the url so you guys can view it; if someone can let me know it's working I'd appreciate it.

Finally...

Then it got muted due to copyright :S I am editing it atm; it all takes forever on youtube :S

It says full, but it's about 10mins short; so if anyone's got a better/full copy please feel free to update, 80 + views in 2 days shows to me I'm not alone in wanting a copy of this :D

great show, I liked the portrayal of hunt by Ian Richardson. very well acted a few errors like the FV432 & the Argies with LMG's.
some good one liners.

Would love to see "To few to far" turned into a movie or TV drama

Yes, I liked the portrayal too, he did the same brilliant job as in the House of Cards (later).

And the more recently posted Major was just like John Wayne out of the "Green Berets"...camera fading away from his knowing look "see, we can kick ass if we really want to" at the very end.

Officially, Argentina only confirmed one of theirs, K.I.A.

A Royal Marine sniper pair scored at least 4 kills.
After two misses with a Carl Gustav, a 66mm LAW hit an Amtrak LVTP-6 and the C.G.then hit it again. No one got out.

Argentina has still not confirmed all casualties from Operacion Rosario.

Rest In Peace.

I hadn't seen this before so thanks for posting it handal. I'd also like to join the praise for Ian Richardson's performance, a truly great actor of a generation of great actors.

Yup, they all ,the cast anyway, outdid themselves. The crew, however, seem to go from holywood film quality to mag tape for tv only as shot by a total pish artist..a shame really. BBC budgets prol :( Prob why it's so hard to find and prol not remasterable anyhow :(

The writer/director realizing his own vision for me made the whole thing seemless; one contiguos "one-liner"; the moral being the entire govt is self obsessed, corrupt and,ofc as ever, totally incompetant.

2 things struck me about the argies in the falklands at the time.

All the argies quoted seemed to be "elite": mountain infantry/paras/sf, etc, etc..ad infinitum...bloody BBC prol.. :D I really wanted a hotline to Galtieri to ask him Do you have any infantry..?!
G: Infantree..??
ME: I resort to the well known, internationally accepted/gold standard/classic Faulty Towers technique of shouting at bloody stupid foreigners to: GET THE MESSAGE THROUGH
G: Shocked by my arrogant english rudeness and blushing with embarrasment ,turns to assistant..Ohhh..SI, si..."MANUEL!!!"

Secondly...where did the herds of wilderbeast go then....sry mi bad..stuck in FT mode..
There were filmed and reported ( as in this dramatisatio) dozens of buffalo/amtracks on the falklands...but none for the location filming..??!
So either the argies took them all oof the falklands before our action..for safekeeping..a defence need re Brazil/Chile...reeelly..?? When they are defending a boggy frozen wasteland against reinvasion...
Or someone decide not to fund them for the RM or just sell them on..to anyone else...I wonder who that could be...and gave them back to the argies..??!! :SSS
If a super nerd like Gaby ( no offense meant ;) ) could internet research that for me/us, I'd love the details of how that deal/decision was made by our genious govt

I've never believed scotty beamed them up

Indeed they did. The Marines (the advance party, real numbers may have been different) were soon withdrawn to the vicinity of the bases from which fast jets operated against the Task Force. If you read up on Op Mikado (which probably was a feint from the very beginning) you will understand why. The consequence was, though, that it left no forces on Falklands that had been trained in night fighting... handing over a definitive advantage to the British Forces.
