Ground crew pulling the safety tabs on a Spear III missile in preparation for live firing on what is the first live testing on the Typhoon.

Re: Typhoon
Brown band at the rear indicates that it has a live motor at least. But it's an inert weapon (blue band) and doesn't look like it has a seeker head (not just the nose being solid, but would probably have a pink band at the front if it did)Ground crew pulling the safety tabs on a Spear III missile in preparation for live firing on what is the first live testing on the Typhoon.

Re: Typhoon
So, it is a release test then?
Glad to hear there's progress and we won't just drift into choosing the SDB II glide bomb.

Re: Typhoon
This seems to confirm that Kuwait is using delaying tactics, hoping that the US comes to a decision on selling the hornets :-

It would appear that the Kuwait Typhoon deal is on again :-
Kuwait to Finalise Eurofighter Jet Deal on Italian Defence Minister’s Visit to Kuwait
(Source: Middle East Online; posted Feb 12, 2016)
KUWAIT CITY --- Kuwait and Italy will finalise a multibillion-euro deal next week for the Gulf state to purchase Eurofighter jets, Kuwait's defence minister has said.
Sheikh Khaled Jarrah Al-Sabah did not specify the number of planes involved in the deal but the Eurofighter consortium said in September that Kuwait had agreed to buy 28 fighter jets.
"Italian Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti will visit Kuwait next week to sign the Eurofighter warplanes deal," Al-Sabah was quoted as saying Thursday evening by the official KUNA news agency.
Media reports said the value of the deal was between 7-8 billion euros ($8-9 billion).
The minister said he met with his Italian counterpart earlier Thursday on the sidelines of an anti-Islamic State group coalition meeting at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
The Kuwait deal follows Oman's order of 12 Eurofighter Typhoons in December 2012. Saudi Arabia already uses the fighter jets in its air force.
Kuwait is looking to upgrade its firepower against the backdrop of increased security concerns in the region linked to the rise of IS.
Its parliament last month unanimously approved a request by the government for $10 billion in additional funds for military spending over the next 10 years.
The emirate is a member of the US-led coalition that has been bombing IS targets in Syria and Iraq since last year and is also taking part in a Saudi-led coalition striking Iran-backed rebels in Yemen.
In November, Kuwait signed 2.5 billion euros’ worth of fixed and provisional military deals led by the purchase of 24 Airbus-built Caracal helicopters.
Paris said Kuwait would purchase the helicopters for one billion euros, with an option for a further six.
Further deals included the purchase of French light armoured vehicles and patrol boat maintenance.

Re: Typhoon
Successful Storm Shadow and Meteor Trials Continue for Eurofighter Typhoon
Read More: http://www.baesystems.com/en/article/su ... er-typhoonIt has been confirmed that a new operational release of the Storm Shadow missile was carried out in the UK Ministry of Defence’s Hebrides range in Scotland. The release - from the Italian Instrumented Production Aircraft (IPA) 2 - is part of work conducted to expand the safe weapon trajectory data envelope of the missile. The test, which was led by Finmeccanica – Aircraft Division, with the support of Eurofighter, BAE Systems, Airbus Defence and Space, and MBDA, follows the completion of ground trials on the weapon and a successful release of Storm Shadow in November 2015.
It was followed by another firing of a Meteor Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air missile using UK Typhoon aircraft IPA6, also at the Hebrides range. Led by BAE Systems with support from MBDA, Selex, QinetiQ and UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and the Eurofighter teams. The firing follows trials held in late 2015 which saw the Typhoon aircraft conduct guided Meteor firings against real air targets in pre-planned scenarios.
The Storm Shadow and Meteor firings are part of the flight test campaign for the Phase 2 Enhancement (P2E) programme which will introduce a range of new and improved long range attack capabilities to Typhoon.

UK Typhoon Tests Reccelite XR Pod
Read More: https://www.flightglobal.com/news/artic ... od-421934/The UK Royal Air Force has recently completed a series of test flights of the Eurofighter Typhoon carrying Rafael’s Reccelite XR reconnaissance pod.
RAF Typhoons currently use the Israeli manufacturer’s older Litening III pod. Interest in the new system – which has yet to lead to a purchase decision – stems from operational lessons during the US-led campaign against Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria.

Re: Typhoon
Yesterday RAF Typhoons intercepted Russian Blackjack aircraft inside the UK's area of interest.
Air Vice-Marshal Gary Waterfall, Air Officer Commanding 1 Group, said: "Yesterday's activity is a reminder that even as the Royal Air Force serves the nation in the fight against Daesh overseas, our men and women work 24/7 to secure the skies at home too. Pilots, ground crew, aerospace battle managers and air traffic controllers, regular and reserve, worked as a whole force yesterday and continue to do so right now to protect the nation."

http://www.parliament.uk/business/publi ... -07/30090/The collision warning system project for the Typhoon aircraft has not yet reached Main Gate. Therefore I am unable to disclose the two possible solutions as that information is commercially sensitive.

RAF to Field Retained Tranche 1 Typhoons as Stand-Alone Air Defence Force
Read More: http://www.janes.com/article/59243/raf- ... ence-forceThe UK Royal Air Force (RAF) is to field as a separate air defence force the Tranche 1 (T1) Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft that are to be retained in service beyond their original retirement date.
[...]
"The Tranche 1s will be used purely for air defence, as an upgrade [for swing-role] will be prohibitively expensive. The two squadrons of Tranche 1 Typhoons will own the air defence role, and we are also looking at using them for 'red air' along with the Hawk," AM Bagwell noted.
