Where is the open and transparent press release from MOD to cut this off at the pass?
How much information on the operational status of a British warship would it take for you to consider it "open and transparent"?
How much information do you think would be needed to "cut this off at the pass"?
Do you think that the top brass should have red faces as a result of this?
Well it wasn’t operational it was broken and preparing for dry dock anyway.
Even if it was operational that’s not an excuse. Here’s how mod did it in the past when ships were on actual operations.

“Eleven crew members have suffered minor injuries after a fire broke out on board the assault ship HMS Fearless in the Mediterranean. The fire started in the engine room at 0415 GMT on Thursday as the ship was undergoing exercises 150 miles off Sicily.
Crew members quickly extinguished the blaze and junior defence minister Dr Lewis Moonie has said that all the casualties have "fully recovered and are available for duty".
Their injuries were minor and they did not need to be evacuated
MoD spokesman
The ship was to have been part of the Royal Navy's Amphibious Ready Group being sent to support United Nations forces in Sierra Leon but will now sail to port for repairs.
Fearless, which has about 400 crew members on board, was en route to Malta when the fire broke out.
Nine of the injured suffered from smoke inhalation and two were treated for heat exhaustion, said a Ministry of Defence spokesman.
"Their injuries were minor and they did not need to be evacuated and they were treated on board."
Dr Moonie told the Commons: "The ship is being sailed under its own power to Malta where attempts will be made to repair it and inspect the damage.
"At present we are uncertain about how extensive it is, nor of how long the ship will be out of service, but of course it will be brought back into service as soon as possible."
