Hmm, no longer showing on QHM website so guess she's not sailing tomorrow...the wind has picked up here again so that might be a factor.

Tomorrow at 1600 now apparently, guess they hadn't loaded all the sausages yet.

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
PhillyJ, thanks. But I now have the surreal mental image of a continuous string of sausages being manually pulled from PRJ to QE up through the hangar doors...

Fair play to the RN, their personnel who serve in it (and their families) for being willing and able (at least so it seems) to deploy both carriers at sea so soon after one has returned from a long, long overseas deployment.

(Navy Lookout) 9th March 2022
During this short stint at sea, she will conduct sea training focused on individual, team & whole ship exercises plus work with Merlins Mk4s of 845 Naval Sir Squadron.
She will also make another trip to Glen Mallen Jetty to load additional munitions. It is hoped she will visit Liverpool at the end of March.

This is actually really significant.
This isn't exactly the same thing, but does point to the direction we're heading in...bear in mind this was 4 years ago...

PWLS meeting up with friends and Allies up the East coast of the UK.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Hmm - so what is different about what we are loading this time? Perhaps best not to speculate

Cue the Snatzis bitching about invading the sovereign rights and territories of the United Republic & Independant National Empress-Kranky (URINE for short).
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Probably down to being considered that its not ideal to have 65000 tonnes of aircraft carrier moored next to and in full view of a public road at present
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Precisely the alert level is higher so security is understandably tighter.Bongodog wrote: ↑13 Mar 2022, 19:49Probably down to being considered that its not ideal to have 65000 tonnes of aircraft carrier moored next to and in full view of a public road at present
The whole thing is so English firstly why hasn't some investment been put in to build a bridge/tunnel/flyover so the road can remain open when accessing the jetty and secondly RN spokesman 'We don't comment on vessel movements' but we do publish notams, harbour notices and road closures and put out tweets.

Royal Navy flagship, HMS Queen Elizabeth arriving on the Clyde this morning. Accompanied by marine ribs, police boats and a police helicopter. Inbound to the Northern Ammunition Jetty at Glen Mallan.

Just spoke to nipper, he reckons they are meeting up with about 40 other ships soon, hopefully some good pics on the way.

What would the possibility be of this sort of technology be,of being deployed on submarines that at depth would not be able to resort to satellite navigation? still, its easy to speculate as any sort of technology used would be classifiedTimmymagic wrote: ↑11 Mar 2022, 15:26 This is actually really significant.

Basically that's it. An incredibly accurate navigation system that is not reliant on GNSS. Perfect for subs, ships and if the technology can be made small enough and reliable enough, for aircraft too. Probably a long way from being rugged enough or small enough for that yet.

HMS Queen Elizabeth, the UK high readiness strike carrier arrived for her second visit to the Northern Ammunition Jetty, Glen Mallan yesterday. She commenced loading of munitions for her air group including Paveway IV bombs. The dark blue colour indicates these are drill rounds being loaded first ahead of live weapons that would be loaded with more care (laser seeker and tail fins not fitted).
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Bombing up for short notice to deploy I suspect.
