Gone with the T45 color scheme of grey at the front and sides and black to the rear. The common thinking has been black to obscure the exhaust smut but I suspect diminishing unwanted radar & radio returns to be a factor on the T45 at least.ETH wrote:Better pic of Glasgow’s mast

Comparing contracts, as you are very fond of doing, is a mugs game as the majority of us know. Without knowing the contents, duration, terms and conditions, such comparisons are meaningless.NickC wrote:Lockheed as prime contractor for the CSC/T26 have contracted for four Leonardo Oto Melara 127/64mm main guns including the Automatic Ammunition Handling System (AAHS) in preference to the BAE Inc USN Mk45 Mod 4 127/62 as fitted in the T26.
The 127 /64 LW Vulcano can fire the guided long range (GLR) and ballistic extended range (BER) shells besides the standard 127 mm round as the Mk45 currently limited to.
Would be of interest if value of contract disclosed to compare to the $245 million MoD awarded to BAE Inc Jul 2016 for the Mk45s, both contracts are for three ship sets and a fourth for training.

Great picture, but how long until it is actually finished? Is the Yard downing tools for a few months to meet the production timescale?
Re: Type 26 Frigate (City Class) (RN) [News Only]
A long time to go I am afraid, fitting out for a couple of years, then builders trials, navy trials etc etc.

Not sure if we really need a long single building to build this ship. Built in two large modules, welded later looks like working well.
Anyway, very important moment it is! Beautiful!!

Also if they were built in a frigate factory, would we get to see pictures like this....donald_of_tokyo wrote:Not sure if we really need a long single building to build this ship. Built in two large modules, welded later looks like working well.

Shouldn't be long before they do if they work on a just in time principle starting to look like a real ship now, not just CGI well done Bobs & bobbi's

I know it is not a flank array ala 2076, but what is that wrapped area on both sides?

Zoom in closely and you can see a hole in the hull, between the sheeted areas. My guess is that they need to insert a engine or gearbox into the open space.Phil R wrote:I know it is not a flank array ala 2076, but what is that wrapped area on both sides?
