it the new "dazzle camouflage"... ... lol
I sure she will get a final coat of paint after her sea trials...
As for the masts well... basically the Aussies kept AN/SPS-49 and added CEAFAR active is an active phased array radar...
We ditched AN/SPS-49 replaced with Smart-S MK2. Which is a multi-beam passive electronically scanned array 3D radar and on opposite masts ...

https://www.nzdf.mil.nz/nzdf/news/nzdf- ... rth-korea/19 OCTOBER, 2020
The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) has deployed a Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) P-3K2 Orion maritime patrol aircraft to support the implementation of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions imposing sanctions against North Korea.
The sanctions resolutions are intended to persuade North Korea to denuclearise and abandon its ballistic missile capabilities.
The P-3K2, a long-range maritime patrol aircraft, will carry out maritime surveillance patrols to detect and deter attempts to evade sanctions such as through illicit ship-to-ship transfers at sea of sanctioned goods such as oil and coal.
This will be the third deployment of a P-3K2 in support of the implementation of the UNSC resolutions, following previous deployments in September 2018 and October 2019.
The aircraft, based at Kadena Air Base in Japan, will fly patrols over international waters in North Asia.
Our deployed personnel had to undertake Covid-19 quarantine requirements on arrival in Japan, and will carry out 14 days managed isolation on their return to New Zealand. Our personnel have the necessary equipment and support so they are able to minimise risks from Covid-19 during their deployment.

- A huge corner reflector formed in the middle of the ship,
- and then released to be separated from the hull.
For a relatively simple radar, it will generate a huge signal so that the main hull can hide herself behind. And of course, the main hull will then be surrounded by chaff from MASS dispenser.

Re: New Zealand Defence Force
The commemoration for the 102nd Anniversary of Armistice Day, the signing of the armistice between the Allied and the German powers, was held today at Pukeahu National War Memorial in Wellington.
The service was attended by the Minister of Defence The Honourable Peeni Henare, the Chief of Defence Force Air Marshal Kevin Short, the Warrant Officer of the Defence Force WO1 Mark Mortiboy and other guests.
After four terrible years, fighting in the First World War finally ended with the signing of an armistice between Germany and the Allies on 11 November 1918. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11 month, the guns fell silent.
http://nighthawk.nz/index.php/3635-the- ... istice-day
For those that don't know, Peeni Henare is from a very respected and esteemed Ngapuhi whakapapa. His grandfather was Sir James Henare, Commanding Officer of the 28th Maori battalion WW2.
I think Peeni Henare is actually going to do our defence force proud... I just hope he gets the funding to do the job right.

An interesting mention about changed balance; would it translate to 'less top-heavy'?

I picked that up as well. I am not sure. They still have to add the Phalanx back on and that is 6 tons so it may balance back again...An interesting mention about changed balance; would it translate to 'less top-heavy'?

HMNZS Te Kaha fires a Sea Sentor Surface Ship Torpedo Defence, or SSTD system.
Countermeasure capability. The first launch of an Expendable Acoustic Device on board HMNZS Te Kaha.
Did you know? The device is designed to be fired into the water to lure incoming torpedoes away from the ship.
