Thanks a lot. Such info is very needed. If with 6 T23 and Bulwark non active, added to 1 T45 officially in extended readiness, and if the man power is actually there waiting for the ships, there should be 1600 crew waiting at shore. If true, there must be many sailors and officers waiting the ship.

In RNZN, they say it is the lack of naval engineers not ordinal sailors which is limiting the ship availability. I guess the same for RN, but only guess.

Any info is welcome!!

In Devonport there's loads of crews milling around.
I've heard a lot of moaning concerning reduced sea drafts as it's hitting them in the pocket.
Less sea time equals less sea pay equals unhappy Jack.

If the issue is a lack of naval engineers then the issue is more likely to be the 2010 public sector pay-freeze rather than the 2010 manpower reduction. I suspect this is why the last government committed to a slightly higher increase in wages for armed forces personnel than it has for the rest of the public sector.

HMS Richmond's crew, may not directly be from St Albans ones (too short period). But, may be St Albans crew is going in to training/promotion, and/or enjoying leave/rest, and in place a new crew for Richmond stood up, looks like.

"crew" is civilian. "ship's company" is for RN.

Thanks. How about "Complement"? For me, company has so many other meanings. For example, for me, the "company" of T26 is BAES :D

Complement? Hmm. Maybe "Ship's Complement"is okay. But not "crew complement". Too civilian.

Company can also be used for groups of people, a "company of actors", or a "company of businessmen" for example. The word "Company" is also associated with companions and companionship, which are group words.

What ever you want to call the soles on these ships we are seeing ships going to sea over crewed . T23 has a normal head count of 185 yet we see Montrose has 215 30 more than the norm as said we have seen T45 on deployment with a lot more than standard which could mean to much manpower for the ship's we have on line and the RN trying to give its people time at sea

I always thought ships had gaggles, not crews.

At least thats the word most appropriate when I see them come to dock and go out on the town.

In London today so did the tour. The crew were all very friendly except one lieutenant who didn't seem to think the idea of an open day was in his job description.

Even with seven T23 in LIFEX, still 1 T45 (at least) is in extended readiness...

2 of those are actually coming out, and 2 are only preparing to get in, for accuracy.
You might also know me as Liger30, from that great forum than MP.net was.
