I wonder if QE will be back in Portsmouth for 5th June? Because Donald Trump is visiting that day.

And...

Looks like Turkey won't be joining the carrier club anytime soon:

Accidents seem relatively common amongst shipbuilders both for NATO navies and globally but thankfully not here in a long time.

Amazing to think that the Carrier Alliance has almost delivered two gigantic carriers, of a brand-new design, in a safe and largely smooth process, without any accidents or fires. Truly something for all the shipyards involved to be proud of.

I thoguht there was a fire early on? While the ship was still in blocks...

Unless memory is playing tricks.

In other 'aircraft carriers on fire news' the Soviet rip-off job the Indians got stuck with also had one last week, where unfortunatly a sailor died.

Lot of reports indicate the one man who died there was the man leading the firefighting teams, getting others out, and ultimately defeating it before it spread.

I've listened to some ex-RN guys talk about some old fire incidents, and those who choose to enter a fire zone on a ship when it gets to a lethal status are some monumentally brave people. Bravo Zulu, and RIP, to that man.

There was the crane collapse at A & P when the first Tide Class came in for fit out. Didn't damage the ship or hurt anyone, but that was more blind luck...

Well that’s the QEs at risk again long with the T26 numbers now that Williams has been sacked

Lost confidence in his ability, that’s rich coming from her all over the hawia leaks even though she’s the nut job pushing for it here against everyone’s advice.

It’s also allowed here to get rid of someone who opposes here brexit deal.

Well perhaps with Penny Mordaunt being elevated to Defence Secretary, who I think is still a Navy Reservist and current Pompey MP, maybe not as bad as it could have been...the RAF may be feeling a bit wobbly though! :lolno:

Has the chances of getting 90+ F35B's just increased?

Everything is up in the air at the moment until we see if she is strong against the treasury even the QEs are at risk right now, if she’s weak then we’re fucked

Whether the accusations against Williamson are true or not is irrelevant, they are happy to be rid of someone pushing the treasury and rocking the boat.

The chances that they brought someone in who will toe the line a lot more are pretty high. Whether it'll be as bad as Hammond or Fallon was to just bend over every time remains to be seen.

I think it’s more that she’s been planing this for a while with how quick his replacement was appointed but needed a good reason. It’s clearly due to him not towing the line with cuts but also on her brexit plan where he’s openly said a no deal would be better than the current plan, but she couldn’t use these as legitimate reason as she’d be torn to bits.

What really does worry me now though is we could see the Albion’s go but even worse the real fear of PoW being sold to india for next to note for them to convert to Cat & Trap

Not that I want her sold to India for a second, but it would be interesting to know how much a CATnTRAP conversion would actually cost them. But I can already hear the groans!

wonder if india is actually going to go for it and buy the plans for the qe design ? as I said before I think there might be a very good chance, its just perfect for what they are after with mods to there needs.i think it could be following type 26 and be another great british export even if its only the design/plans .not so sure about the t31 tho I think that's a rubbish idea in my own view ,but hey many will say im wrong and they could be right .but fingers crossed folks for the qe design for india

I have just posted in the F35 section about an Australian audit recommending dehumidyfying the aircaft because of salt corrosion possibilities due to the type of Aluminium used extensively in it structure ,I wondered how this risk was considered in an aircraft carrier

Zero chance.
Their corrupt purchasing system (backhanders / bribes) would scuttle any attempt at building a QE.
