Are you referring to the rather splendid weapon displayed in the Flag Dining Room Ron?

The table has history tha scratches testify to it. it would be nice if the table has been on a ship before.

Exactly, I was also wondering about its history.....

Possibly the scurvy knave who scratched it was flogged on it either before (or aft of) the Main Mast.

There was a painted white table in Rosyth dockyard it had rounded ends that was of hms Queen Elizabeth along with it chairs. So I don't think is Jacky fishers table from 1918. If it's of the first Queen Elizabeth then the scratches are to be left.. As like the ships silver it belongs on board.

Five USN carriers are now fitted with CAT (Countermeasure Anti-Torpedo). As the name suggests the defensive system intercepts & destroys incoming torpedoes.

Is this something that RN should be looking at for QE and PoW?

If it is adopted, I think the term Tailored Air Group will have to be "binned". Can't have an Acronym meaning two different things on the same ship.

I certainly hope so!
Looking at the opposite end of the table there is very little damage to that end.

Having built & refurbished Wardroom and Captain's tables in the past, the idiotic actions of the crew are to be held in question... :wtf:

Definitly. And not only for carriers.

OK, I know that Fleur de lis is used in British heraldics as well, but isn't that a symbol much more connected with France? ( about carpet )

Will the carpet for POW have crowns? Could there be a possibility that orders or deliveries have been reversed?

Maybe a Torpedo that follows an Acoustic torpedo would defeat CAT. In other words the Acoustic Torpedo would send course Data to an otherwise unguided (none Acoustic) following weapon. If the acoustic weapon is taken out the following Torpedo finishes the job, as there is nothing for the CAT to attack?
Obviously this would only work against surface targets, and would be far from foolproof, but does serve as a reminder that any counter can in turn be countered!

There was a dual monarchy during 1422–1453, where both England and France were ruled by Kings of England, we "borrowed" the symbol.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual_mona ... and_France.

And England's Royal Arms (aka "Three Lions") were introduced in the 12th century by Plantagenet kings, whose origins were from France. Originally, the lions were called leopards in France.

Yes, yes, I know all of that, but as I said, FDL is really more a symbol of France than England.

The cheeky answer might be that they're walking all over the Fleur the way the Royal Navy often walked all over the French

But really, as she's named for Elizabeth I (who used the quarted English and French arms as her father had) and as it's both predominantly blue and a regal-looking pattern, it's pretty unsurprising they would use it.

QE has been turned bows north, and another possible Phalanx tent has become visible, on the stern!

At this time of year it struck me that instead of paying the EU £39 Billion for a withdrawal deal, we could afford to build an additional 10 x QEC Aircraft Carriers. I know which Christmas present I would rather have! :D

Or build a third QE, then buy all the Dave B's we said we would (and give them all to the FAA), buy 2 LHD's to replace Ocean. Build a decent number of t26's, some more t45's and make the t31 what it should be...
Oh and get some Dave A's to shut the RAF up :D

But, May and her useless colleagues have fudged that right up :silent:

Looking forward to a much needed change of leadership in 2019

Merry Christmas to all

Another way of looking at is that the UK net contribution to the EU is currently running at £10bn per year. Of course this has been earmarked for the NHS, but even half would allow us to give ourselves and our EU partners a strong RN (+ RAF MPAs) to protect the North Atlantic and Artic from Russian aggression.

Add half of the £14bn foreign aid budget and the RN could help protect the vital global sea routes from Chinese manipulation.

Now how many Carrier Strike Groups could the UK afford for £12bn a year
