Has anyone spotted a similar image of the Oman facility... there have been some Google images of the wider area

I've only seen these. From what I remember the QE Class will not be able to come alongside due to the depth restrictions but can use the facilities.

The question is refering to Duqm in Oman rather than Bahrain. It's a deep water port and apparently QE can not only berth but be dry-docked there - using existing facilities rather than anything bespoke.

But it looks like a God awful run ashore.

A good thing we might have some land power around there, too, so that the carrier will not change hands overnight:
the proposed building material distribution centre will provide everything (for the construction sector), from steel bar to furniture.

Since Duqm has a fully fledged port facility, import and export will be much easy.

The building material distribution centre is part of the 10 projects planned by Chinese companies in Duqm and is coming up within the China Oman Industrial Park, which has a huge area of 11.72 square kilometres."

Don't see either a T45 or a Bay along side in the above pic. A USN San Antonia lpd yes but no big UK stuff.

Bryan Dowling is the Lockheed Martin aircraft supervisor for BF-5, one of the F-35Bs conducting testing aboard the ship. In this role, he works above the flight deck with a focus on the safety of the jet, crew and pilot.

Is that to be the new southern end of Victory Jetty? It'll block the Camber and King's Stairs. Already a tight squeeze in and out for small boats.

It looks like one of Victory's masts in the background, so would indicate the Southern end.

Ah sorry, my mistake. Got a bit bored waiting for something to run at work and found these which I think are the right ones.

So we have the 'first right of refusal' to the outermost pier?
- where is the dry dock? It can take QEs (and won't sink, like the one in Russia)?

I think this is actually just a dolphin and not part of a bigger jetty. Just for the carriers stern or head ropes.

Tonight (7th Nov) BBC FOUR 2200 - Captain Jack and the Furious Few. Documentary about a pioneering naval aviator from Northern Ireland. Has a lot of footage of HMS Prince of Wales

I recently read Guy Warner's biography of Jack based on Jack's many letters. Rather boring I'm afraid.

PoW Update

(Forces TV) 9 Nov 2018
This time next year, it is hoped that the UK's next aircraft carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, will leave Rosyth dockyard to begin sea trials. The second Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier is in the final stages of construction in Scotland and has been designed to carry the F-35B aircraft.

^ Fascinating. I had no idea that the ski jump is cambered, with port/left/outer side lower than the starboard/right/inner side.

Port/Left/Outer side & Starboard/Right/Inner side I think you meant to say. Too many Pink Plymouths perhaps?

I wonder when the order will come for the additional 15 to get the magical 48 enough for 4 Squadrons?

Did that contract come with future options or do the have to make new contracts also are you guys using FMS?

They are merely sticking to the planned procurement profile established with Main Gate 5 and already reported on by the NAO.

BK-36 to BK-42 follow in Lot 15 with BK-43 to BK-48 in Lot 16. By January 2025, if there are no delays to deliveries, the 48 will have been handed over.
48 enough for 4 Squadrons?
In which metrical system would they be enough...?

Level 1 Partner does not pay those fees; don't know about the other levels.
- then again, Block 4 charges are like the taxman writing to you that they designed the PAYE system 'wrong' and now you are liable for another 10%
