I don't believe the CIWS and other weapon systems have been installed yet, but happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

Good set of photos here but I think the Daily Mail are the only ones who insist on calling her “big Lizzie”.. :|

CIWS, 30mms and some of the kit relating to operating the F35 is the last to be installed I believe. It is heading north during the first part of 2018 for rough sea trials and helicopter certifications, before heading back to port for final work, which I believe involves adding some final gear to make her ready for operating the F35. Then over to the US towards the end of the year for F35 trials. Not sure when the CIWS and 30mms will be installed, most likely before the rough sea trials considering it is commissioned today.

Good to know that HMS QE will be able to conduct helicopter operations if needed by mid way through next year. Then limited F35 operations from the end of next year as well.

I heard on local radio that a flypast is due between 11:30 and 12:15 today to mark the commisionning ceremony, I think Wildcats, Merlins, 1 Sea King, a Hawk and 2 Typhoons as well as a Swordfish and Sea Fury were mentioned.

Looking towards the harbour on this mornings drive in it had better clear up somewhat, low cloud, drizzle and a very grey day at the moment. Although that sounds perfect weather for a 'Stringbag' to fly in! :D

The video at the bottom of that last post at 12 seconds in, gives a great view of the size of QNLZ.

Crikey, is that Jurgen Klopp in the first tweet of the earlier post? I know his team stuffed the Russkis 7-0 last night but not sure that warrants a ticket for the commissioning ceremony!

Trust the BBC to immediately go for this "OMG IT COST THIS MUCH MONEY" approach...

After their embarrassing show on The One Show with that moron talking about how it has no planes and the like, I shouldn't be surprised.

I can't believe the BBC!
Just heard the following during the commissioning

'New F-26 Frigates'........
Sister ship called 'HMS Prince Charles'..........
HMS Queen Elizabeth Named after our Current Queen........
Cost 3.5Bn 3.1Bn 6.2Bn Money..Money ..Money.. and they can't agree the Figure!

I have a suggestion for the BBC. Change your name! You don't deserve to be called 'British'.

Good news, I can think of an alternative that begins with B and fits very well with the rubbish they are spouting

B------t Broadcasting Corporation.

They couldn't even be bothered to show the Queen's commissioning speech live.

SHAMEFULL

Rant over.
