Unless I misheard, I also seem to remember the Captain saying something about QE lifting her skirts and doing 30 knots in the BBC series that just aired.dmereifield wrote:Unless I'm misremembering she can officially do 25-26 knots according to public domain info, but has been able to surpass that in trials by a few knots....

Just seen the updated report on the scrapping of Illustrious, and apparently the bid for her use as a heliport on the Thames was scuppered by BoJo when Mayor of London as it didn’t fit in with his vision for the city.. a shame but hey ho too late now! But something in the picture on page 16 caught my eye, see if you can spot it..
Who knows one day it’ll end up on EBay.. I’ll keep checking just in case

The anchor in the parking space?
Amazing just how small the hangar was in comparison to the rest of the tub.

Those tweets of PWLS metal pieces, could those be unmilled blanks for the letters of HMS Prince Of Wales name plate ?

They look like they would make a good head for a golf putter.
Probably a bit heavy though

QE out again in June for more trials, then August to December in the US. Probable!
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Hmm, is this a new thing? I always thought it was just the Pennant number on RN ships.
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
No, RN ships have had their badges on their funnels for years. QE's badge just looks way too big (to me at least) somehow. If it were 50% smaller, I might get used to it....

It is too big (and mounted so low that it looks like it is on the superstructure).
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
Since that is where it is mounted.Scimitar54 wrote:... it looks like it is on the superstructure

If it was where it ought to be ....... on the funnel, it would have to be an appropriate size, or look even more ridiculous.Since that is where it is mounted
