Seems they must have gone through a number of on board integration programs with the air group rather than simply flying them in and off this time.

It also looks like they’ve dispensed with the little green and red flags this time round.

If with 17 sqn aircraft with possibly the U.S.M.C. aircraft including additional instrumented airframes. We will have to wait for there numbers. It would be sensible to locally remove the data during the trials rather than down load it at the end of the trial.
That same small brown ISO was there during Westlant 18 when the F-35 test aircraft came aboard so its definitely for the instrumented test aircraft. Whats missing this time is the trailer and mast up near the bow. I think at the time we thought that was for telemetry but it looks like that was for the QinetiQ measurement of air movement over the deck during air ops.

Would an f35b landing on a very wet deck generate steam using the downward thrust of it engines in vertical landings ?

As far as I know this is the 2nd scheduled stop off at Invergordon, hopefully my lad will make it to the right coach with his mates after the run ashore and not need the intervention of the local fuzz to help them find the right ones in Inverness!

Have you noticed how the landing staff get quickly off the deck when the aircraft moves in for its vertical landing. That jet efflux is lethal stuff.

Was just thinking that SDL , think they designed the hangar too small or ship altogether looking at them planes parked in the hangar and only a few at that

it's a combination of the angle and the fact they've got the containers there for WESTLANT19 only... makes it look smaller than it is

And a aerial video of Invergordon itself, if you're curious about it.

I would of expected the tank farm that was part of the closed R.N. fuel depot twenty five years ago. Would have been removed along with the pumping house for Inchin down to the side of the church . The Cromlet tanks on the west side of the church (F.F.O. tanks) were removed twenty five years ago. The Anchor shown was recovered from Cromarty firth in 1986 near H.M.S Natal. When radiation free metal was recovered for use in C.T. scanners. It was bent to recover a chain rather than damaged in use. The ex Admiralty jetty is the T shaped jetty were the cruse ships berth. The berth were the carrier is now tied up was the site of the Admiralty floating dock. In the 1950s- 70s R.A.F. marine craft unit.It was redeveloped into a rig repair yard in the late 1980s.

Not seen any smoke from either of the new carriers. I assume they have the latest exhaust cleaners installed to keep down dirty emissions.

It's not all about #bigdecksfastjets - rotary wing ops continue on #WESTLANT19 as we welcome onboard @USMC CH-53 Super Stallion. These heavy lift helicopters will allow us to embark USMC personnel ahead of their F-35Bs joining us for trials very soon & deploying with us in 2021.
