I must say that I enjoyed my “Ticket to Ryde” from Southsea after a course at HMS Excellent back in 78 or 79!

I understood that QE was going to get her last Phalanx and her 4 DS30M + E/O directors in October. Is there any news or photos?

She spend most of October at sea, so I don't think she will have gotten it since then. I don't think there is any rush for the 3rd Phalanx or other guns but I suspect as she prepares for the Pacific next year they will get installed.

Be nice to have them aboard PoW for our nipper to play with. I assume they would be under his departments care.

I guess nigh on 6 months till QE deployment would be ample time for her 3rd phalanx & other mounts / systems,

Any news on the helicopter trials aswell for POW ? seems to be running a bit late....worked out pretty well though after the F35 work up with the usmc last month, more to look forward too :D

Likely to be before 2021, so that “Carrier Strike Initial Operating Capability” can be declared in December 2020.

Certainly would be, though not sure he has had any recent training on them since his early days, read into that what you may. Nipper has Chrimbo off, I assume PWLS will be available for pics from harbour tours for the rest of the year...if they are still running after Lockdown 2, return of the Covid that is. ☹️

It would be nice to know if the DS30M will have LMM?

Could the reason be the recent flood and clean up, plus repair of any damage to electrical equipment?

Prediction Game:
QE's third phalanx. Will it be white to match the other two, or grey like PoW's trio ?!

As it will be heading for the tropics in CSG21, I should think that a White Cap would be more appropriate!

Sadly I'd estimate the same odds as me winning the lottery.

I vote white. That way the RAF will be able to tell the carriers apart!

Doubtful. Suspect if it actually gets fielded it will only be on T45 or T23 destined to work in the Gulf. It will be interesting to see the 'production' model if it ever appears though, hopefully it will be a 'clip on' item to the mount rather than permanent addition.

Not sure this is it, as far as I know all crew available and on PWLS if/when required.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see every DS-30M mount get a Martlet pannier on the side, but I suspect if its an easy clip on kit we're likely to see more purchased than if it turns into a extensively modified mount (like the SeaHawk Sigma from MSI).
