Jesus that last picture really brings home to me at least, the actual size of of the QE when compared to the Black Duke, Black duke is just so tiny in comparison.

I mean not Eddies last picture but the one before that, he posted another as i wrote.

I would imagine they're doing everything from now until December. I think they said 500 takeoffs and landings were planned.

Oh and....

Oh and....
That'd be a very interesting video to see the first rolling vertical landing on the QE

Twenty years of design and development and they’ve finally met & they certainly outdo the CGI! It’s been a long eight years but it’s nice to see us getting near to being back in business

While I’m all in favour of the rule of threes, under the current budgetary constraints two fleet carriers is enough, time to rebuild the expeditionary assault capability if that happens to have a F35B capability bonus. The QECV are never going to replicate Oceans capability.

For the sake of the budget I’d really be looking at 3 of these,

Let’s agree to differ - for me it’s all about Sea Control (with a dose of limited raiding) - whilst you don’t need a CVF, I’d go for a CVS any day before a LPH / LHD. Of course platforms can be flexible, but given funds are short we should clear on primary roles.

I've been bitching and whining for the past year that the RAF was going to grab first landing and first takeoff. But here they are, taking a step back for the Navy to enjoy the moment with one of their pilots.

So well done RAF!! and apologies from me for doubting.

The deck’s getting that nice used aircraft carrier look about it now. I can’t tell whether the black marks are specifically soot from the F-35 or just general use seeing as there’s similar marks in other areas of the flight deck

Landing Spot 3 - opposite the rear island - is where the F-35's touched down. The other marks are from Merlins.

The F35 looks tiny on board, really highlights the size of the QE class
