Er.... i was making a lame quip about Petty Officer Hicks...

Seeing as a fair amount of image content for the QE is now going to come via twitter/facebook than the MOD, then talking down social media as degrading the forum is a bit OTT

Agreed. I've got twitter for twitter.

We don't need every fudging tweet here as well, now if it was something exceptional...!

What is interesting is that some of them are being issued direct by STRN/@NavyLookout rather than the official @HMSQnlz account. Exclusive distribution rights. Kudos.

I thought the Admin stated that tweets that start discussion or are significant are welcome, but spamming threads with endless tweets was not.

Perhaps they'd care to comment??

With regards to twitter or cut and pastes of news releases anywhere it should be expected that the the contributor provides comment providing explanation and relevance to the post and what the viewer is reading e.g. context history I also believe that SKB has put a lot of appreciated effort in this

(Royal Navy) 3rd September 2018
It takes all of these roles and more to get HMS Queen Elizabeth to sea.

(Royal Navy) 4th September 2018
In the age of GPS, why do you still need to be able to navigate by the sun? Lt Cdr Stephens explains from on board HMS Queen Elizabeth as she heads to the USA to land fast jets on deck for the very first time.

The majority of day to day updates and news snippets on HMS QNLZ, as well as most of the armed forces comes via social media. If you have a problem with seeing informative twitter posts, then I suggest you close your eyes, because I for one will be continuing to post and share them with the forum for discussion.

Cheers moderator!

I don't have a problem with informative nor interesting or unusual tweets, IMHO every single fucking tweet doesn't need to appear, especially w/o comment. If you#re going to post a tweet, surely it isn't too hard to comment why? But that is just my 2p.

The Tweets are informative and they're relatively modest in number. And they show the RN is actively engaging with the public in a creative way and that's something to be celebrated.

And it's all being done by people who have a day job, and that comes across. There are some fantastic RN Twitter accounts - @HMSEnterprise and @HMS_Echo are absolute stars.

I'm on Twitter so I do see them places other than here, normally via RTs from Gab or @NavyLookout. But I'd rather see them twice than not at all.

As Downsizer has said there are time and place for twitter on the thread and genuine news is welcome, but really looking at this page alone is a twit really necessary for when they are doing SOP revolutions like VERTREP or someone want to play the ukulele?

Is that news worthy I think not, all it’s do is driving people away because of the inane twitter posts

Going back to the previous round of discussion on this, I seem to remember that the same applies as to quoting from any other platform/ forum/ blog: there needs to be a comment or narrative attached, and raw copying across is frowned upon?
- retweeting is a different matter, as it is designed to happen, the originator knows that and whatever it is, it stays on the same "platform"

On my part I rely on fellow forum'ists to pick up what is important/ interesting in their follow-on comments, as with my tracker blocker Twitter is so unhappy about it that the tweets cannot be opened
Ever-lasting truths: Multi-year budgets/ planning by necessity have to address the painful questions; more often than not the Either-Or prevails over Both-And.

Not so, they're being downloaded from the Royal Navy imagery database website, they're downloadable by anyone.

There is a hurricane named Florence forming in the Atlantic which seems to be on a course to affect Bermuda and possibly the eastern coast of the US.
But not this week....
