Apparently HMS QE is currently in Malta and travelled across land to get there...perhaps she really does have hover capabilities just like Cloudbase in Capt Scarlet.SKB wrote:Whoever "Daring" is on Marine Traffic, she's clearly not a T45. Current position:

Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion

Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
She does have guns, I saw some Matelots manning them when she left Pompey...albeit only able to defend against overly aggressive Seagulls and Yachty types but that's definitely in our National interest, the Seagulls are a right pain when you're trying to enjoy your fish'n'chips on the seafront.Ron5 wrote:Defending the UK? 09:45 - Marine Traffic shows "Daring" (not!) is still in Penzance Bay. Meanwhile, the QE is now docked in Malta's Grand Harbour (not!).

No helicopters on deck?
Fortune favors brave sir, said Carrot cheerfully.
What's her position about heavily armed, well prepared and overmanned armies?
Oh, noone's ever heard of Fortune favoring them, sir.
According to General Tacticus, it's because they favor themselves…

Only stealth ones. I guess the one that was buzzing around the other day bringing VIP's didn't stay, unless it's below decks.abc123 wrote:No helicopters on deck?

No sense of history, e.g. sinking of Union frigate Cumberland in your own civil war, Battle of Lissa, sinking of Chilean EsmeraldaRon5 wrote:Defending the UK? With no guns and no aircraft?

She's spending a surprisingly long time at anchor...
Re: Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers - News and Discussion
They were originally delayed by a power issue, and they were replacing a diesel head on a main engine yesterday. Engine might be playing up. Or they might just be doing some post refit trials.hovematlot wrote:She's spending a surprisingly long time at anchor...
Seems to have moved out of Penzance at about 0030. Heading back east.

Some great pics on there, the one of the Merlin taking off is superb. I'd show my Dad but to be honest after he saw it leave Pompey for the first time Sunday, when I took him and Mum down to the Round Tower to see her, it would just give him more basis to call it a 'Lego Ship'!

Yep, he is old school...and ex RAF Transport Command who took on the Comet when it was falling out of the sky To be fair his Dad was on the old Carriers when RAF personnel were embarked the first time, so probably 1920's.Ron5 wrote:He's got a point, does kinda look like Lego designed her

Apache will get a read across clearance (soon) for QELZ from its previous OCEAN release combined with data from the Merlin and Chinook FOCFT(RW) earlier this year.
